Moderation glitch?

Now I'm thinking about it can people delete there own posts if they self moderate?

Edit: I posted this, and then deleted it. The thread remained bumped with the posts timestamp, even though it wasn't there.

Edit 2: Tried it again, total number of replies to the thread goes up and down, it's just the last reply bit that's borked

You realise in that "nice and quick" period of time I could have edited 3/4 of my Headshop post with absolutely no trouble at all, particularly if my intention had been to change the meaning of it beforehand.

I mean yeah, in theory you could use the nice-and-quick edit to write "You're all a bunch of PC fashists!1!!" and then change it to something else, but then you are failtroll, basically. IMO the potential for abuse is outweighed by the utility.

I don't know. But I do know Morpheus is a known borderline troll from a couple of years ago, with a tendancy to speak gibberish, occasionally shading into offensive gibberish. I can't quite remember if Polar Bears came directly from something he said, or if they were only bought in during attempts to banish hir with mockery, but they were definitly involved somehow. Probably needs some mods who remember the last time involved.

"Polar bears are swimming for their lives" is an actual real thing that Morph really said, regarding the melting of the ice-caps. Mockery inevitably ensued. -1 responses is what you get when someone starts a thread, thinks better of it, and delets their opening post. In some BBS systems this would, bizzarely, wipe the entire thread (inc. an older incarnation of the 'Lith, if memory serves). Don't know if that's the why in this case.

And no, Morph never got banned because failtroll is fail, essentially. The rationale is that we want to keep the board as non-banny as possible, only ejecting those who cause a significant degree of disruption. Morph rears his ugly head every once in a while, trolls ineffectualy, gets the piss ripped out of him, then disappears again. This happy state of affairs is likely to continue unless he gets a lot noisier or visits more regularly.
