Racebannon....Holy Shit....

I just bought the Racebannon album, "In the Grips Of Light," and good lord, is it intense. Like a screemo version of Captain Beefheart, mixed together with the most noisy and destructive parts from Refused. This is really really amazing, and powerful. I know some people like 'em here. So buy this if you are into something crazy, fun, and loud.

Racebannon does truly rock the shit. I love having a really good band in the same town as me, and I especially love that they're always playing shows here. They have a couple of new 7" singles out, too, if you're interested.

Race Bannon was one of the characters out of the Jonny Quest cartoon. Wasn't he Benton Quest's gay lover or something?

I saw Rapider Than Horsepower (the lead singer from Racebannon's side project) last night. They were truly an awesome spectacle. Imagine a poppier U.S. Maple, if you will. I don't know if they have anything other than a 7" out at the moment, but I'm sure more will be forthcoming. Definitely something to look out for. I'm going to see Racebannon proper tonight, along w/Drekka (another noise act). And Dressy Bessy tomorrow night. Bloomington pretty well rocks my world sometimes.

Math is for suckers!

Fittingly enough, given the comparison to Beefheart in the first post of the thread, Racebannon will be performing "Electricity" on the upcoming tribute album Neon Meate Dream of a Octafish (along w/members of Sonic Youth, Mike Watt, Weasel Walter from the Flying Luttenbachers, and more). Their new EP is due in October. Their official site is here and it's pretty snazzy.

Hot damn. I downloaded the song Fox Boogie from Audiogalaxy (you can still get it there, because they host it) and it's scratching me right where i itch. Fucking awesome.
