Strange Adventures in the Bastard City

Well, not so much "strange" as "disturbing and flattering at the same time".

So I'm driving down Eight Mile Road just outside of Detroit (the same 8 Mile road supposedly featured in Eminem's upcoming movie 8 Mile or something like that) with some friends from work, and we stop in a gas station to by a blunt shell. Eight Mile Road is, to people who both live there or merely drive through it, a ghetto. I wouldn't bother going near it if I didn't have friends who live there.

So I'm leaving the gas station near midnight when a woman, nearing forty by my guess, steps out of a van and says "Excuse me, but you are so handsome. Really." I tell you, it felt great. Maybe Detroit isn't the shithole I thought it was.

I hate to say it, but she's just saying that because she thinks you've got a pretty great coat. :p

[ego falls, struck in the back of the head by a blunt comment]

ugh!

Actually, it was like 60 degrees out. I was wearing my work clothes, which consists of a lot of black, white shirt, and a tie. It was a Gerry Garcia tie, by the way.

Yeah those random unexpected comments can be a real pick-me-up. Congrats you handsome beast you!

Mine was..
"oh, you're sooo cute"
Unfortunatly it was said when I was in a HORRID mood so my reply was "Hey, fuck you! Cute is for rabbits". One of the moments that I do indeed reflect upon with regret. (She was sweet/supermodel hot)

I can only hope you reacted better than I did.
