If I were him I'd stick with the sunglasses he has. If he looked behind himself more often he'd notice they're teleporting him off the island, Ruby Slippers style. It's brilliant how these future plot-line elements are seeded right from the beginning...

In Robinson Caruso the hero hears our thread comments as they encircle him; making fun of his one liners, mocking him for his shades, asking him if he could catch a monkey.
