| | | | Haha! "Nyarlathotep with morals" is a description I never thought to hear...but it fits, especially with all the "Man of Tomorrow" imagery... Lovecraft and Nietzche is an interesting continuum to examine, as both seem to share a world-view (especially when HPL's racialism/racism is taken into account) but both seem to have rather different attitudes to this state of affairs. Perhaps the Great Old Ones, as well has being metaphors for women, sexual organs, foreigners and seafood, are to some extent an overblown disgust reaction to the concept of the Ubermensch - I can't imagine Lovecraft being too enamoured of a group with disregard for the past or academia... |
