One of the most unintentionally hilarious films ever.
i don't think it's unintentional. Verhoeven's a great parodist - see also RoboCop and Starship Troopers. however, i'm not sure how many other people (including the cast) were in on the joke.
Anyone who's seen the shagging scene in the swimming pool can't doubt the intended humour of the movie. Verhoeven even turned up to the Raspberries - the alternative Oscars that honours shitty films - to collect the mammmoth amount of awards the film recieved.
