From the Grauniad:

i saw this yesterday! it *must* be a wind up/publicity stunt - not so long ago i seem to remember a big hoo-ha over whether or not tombstones in the shape of teddy bears were acceptable, so i doubt if ads would get the thumbs up.

Not as if the average graveyard would qualify as a busy public thoroughfare.

Come the inevitable, I want to be prepared by Gunther von Hagens and displayed on the empty plinth in Trafalgar Square, holding up a big advert for Budvar.

Oh, yeah, it's a blatant wind-up. I just thought it was funny, that's all.

Possibly not the kind of association that Maccy D's want to go for, given that they spend a small fortune trying to convince the world that guzzling down saturated animal fat and sugary crud is heathsome.

Mad Ad

A Madison Avenue whizzkid
thought it a disgrace
That no one had exploited
the possibilites of space
Discussed it with a client
who agreed and very soon
A thousand miles of neontubing
were transported to the moon.

Now no one can ignore it
the product's selling fine
The night they turned the moon
into a Coca-Cola sign.

You should read the Vogon translation of that poem. it'd kill you.

Thanx, but the original is causing enough internal damage as is.

So has advertising gotten to that point of idiocy where the attention-getter is staged controversy. Eesh.
