I'm pretty anti-beard usually, just too many awkward and horrific associations with arts and crafts school teachers in the mid-to-late 80's, who'd never got over drinking pints of mild at dodgy UK colleges, planning knitwear, cardigans, stuff like that. But there's nothing too wrong with a well-trimmed goattee - For what it's worth, aesthetically, picture two suits you best

I'd definitely plump for piccy one from purely aesthetical reasons - it makes you wise, knowledgeable and approachable. My
few feeble attempts at beardedness have seen me phase-shift from me to drug dealer to vagrant, then swiftly back to me again.

Hats off for following your promise through.

Well Im glad someone said it first. I think first was good, although as a general rule I dislike beards. Go you for carrying it out, and Im sure its interesting for you to see your chin after so many years.

Go for a good compromise... vote for picture 3!
