Rats!

gentlemen and ladies,

in the past i have had the great pleasure of sharing my living space with 4 rats.

fantastic pets they are.

sorta like the monkey of the rodent family.

my first rat Theakston one night escaped from her home and wandered the flat while we slept a drunken slumber. i was rudely awakened come the morn by the lass, weeping as she had found poor wayward Theakston floating in the toilet.

her explorations had come to a seemingly tragic end.

but no!

for adventurous Theakston had exhausted herself trying to climb up the oh so slippery sides of Armitage Shanks finest.

as we held her in a towel to dry her fur, conversing upon how best to honour her death, she gave a small rat sigh.

Huzzah! the rodent lived!

from that day on she became incredibly attached and attuned to us.

one fateful night when a close relative had passed on, i sat in my rocking chair, and the fine rat came and lay upon my lap, letting me stroke her soft coat.

never before or after have i found a beast that could judge my mood so well.

(why the hell am i typing like this? must be the damn antifreeze the local shop sells for wine...)

anyway, rats are damn cool pets. you lot ever taken care of one?

A couple of friends had a pet rat once upon a time. The story of its passing is not one to be told over a meal...

Love 'em.
They just don't live long enough. It's always heartbreak when they go. I had to stop.
