Zocher, I liked your story! Now, is that based on a real Hindu fable, or did you make it up for fun?

Ganesh! Please! Don't be so harsh! I am sorry for being off-topic. Who's your superior?

Jack! That pic makes me sad.

No, entirely cromulent portion of Hindu mythology, Mike12345. Ganesh features in many similarly charming tales, which may explain why he's such a popular scion of the Hindu pantheon.

What the metaphysical underpinning of that wee story is, I haven't a clue.

Cromulent!?

Boy, I need a new dictionary.

It's amazing how years of watching The Simpsons will embiggen the wordlessmost vocabulary... OK, I made up "wordlessmost"...

And bear in mind that if you get shot, you're not going to heaven or anything. It's not like, a fasttrack program. Same place as the rest of us, right? Good. See you there.

And here was me thinking it related to the Texas Ornithological Society. How red is my face?

I've been posting there on the politics forum for a while, and I must say it is educational discovering people who will claim Biblical justifications for Israeli government actions.

It's all been quite brain-stretching, though, trying to formulate arguments in a completely different idiom and from a different point of view. I recommend it. It does make you realise how universal your point of view is.

As well as that, you do realise that the Christian POV which is often stereotyped as being conservative can in fact be extremely radical, politically.

Well, I registered here ages ago after Ganesh recommended the site and I am only now getting around to posting. I am undoubtably posting my hello in the wrong forum and 'off-topic' but I know you will forgive me for being too lazy to find anywhere else. So.... HI!!!

We don't have an official forum in which people introduce themselves, so here is as good as anywhere. Welcome.

Have you been lured from CBBS, then?

CBBS is fraying a little around the edges these days - thanks to trouble-making "extremists" like Christie...

You know what I like about CBBS? As well as and buttons for composing replies, they've also got . That rocks.

I think we should have our own icons here, something like .

Wow. Thanks to this thread, I'm now addicted to both the thread, and the CBBS. Now if they'd just figure out why I can't log in? (Do they know somehow?) Just sent a message to the scary seeming moderators.

And welcome, mike12345 and christielee and whoever has popped over here from the CBBS. Hope you enjoy it here.

Actually the nicer 'refugees' from CBBS have started another message-board, Cross and Flame; it's shaping up quite nicely. The site's originator's weren't really wanting a hee-yooge influx for another week or so but I'm linking to it here on the assumption that a) there likely won't be that many interested parties from Barbelith, and b) those who do join from here are likely to be all-round paragons of online loveliness.

Mind you, once we open the portals to CBBS, that's when it's gonna get really interesting...

Wow, 'Neshy! See, they started that thing partly because of you! Neat!

(Uh-oh, making your head swell more I'm sure, sorry Zocher!)

Congrats to the C+F guys - after CBBS, their board's a pleasant surprise. I'm now just waiting for the moment when Ganesh walks on water.

Ganesh
01:24 / 22.11.02
This evening, I've turned around half a bottle of wine to water - does that count?

I'd emphasise that this board's still at the 'wide-eyed idealism' stage, so don't be too nasty or trollsome. Oh yeah, and the custom there seems to be to introduce oneself...

E. Randy Dupre
01:58 / 22.11.02
Ah. Good point. The introductions forum feels like such an alien idea, having spent so much time here. No intention of being anything other than courteous - like I say, after the excesses of the CBBS it's a rare pleasure to see a board set up to discuss a specific religion where the posters treat each other with respect, regardless of belief system.

CBBS 'refugees'? LOL Well, if you look at the member list over there, I guess that is pretty accurate.

Seems like quite a nice set-up, actually.

That Cross+Flame, he's a pretty cool guy.

Hi Grant, I agree. What is your name at C+F? I can't place you (nosey bugger aren't I?)

I should make my presence known soonish.

I'll be me, grant.
