Would more people be willing to donate funds to Tom if there was a PO Box? The one thing that discourages me from donating on Paypal is that I don't have any credit cards. I'm wondering if checks or money orders would suffice. Not sure how the whole 'international check thing' works.

The site costs $130 US each month to run, of which probably about $70 is covered by the voluntary subscriptions each month. If you REALLY want to send money, then a cheque is probably better than cash.
