It's the weekend! A proper weekend, unlike that fake weekend last week that I worked over.

Me go now. Me go eat steak. Me finally get to watch Lost from last week.

Having a massive dirty fucking rave in my house/underground windowless converted amusement arcade bunker!
I figure we should fit about 300 people in.
I am excited.

It's stupid, but I'm really just happy that I get to spend Sunday with the Accomplice. Suffering through hangovers, bickering, him making chicken broth, me doing the dishes. We did our taxes this afternoon, that's all done and I'm even getting a tax refund out of it, which will most certainly help during the current dire straits.

Plus, yesterday he watched cartoons with me, dutifully looking bemused while I grinned at Legion of Super-Heroes.

Yesterday was also International Women's Day, and the union had a big rally in support of it and using it as a springboard for our own pay equity issues. Rally was a success, I think, even if the local newspaper didn't bother to report on it(!).

Tomorrow's also the first meeting of the correspondence group that a friend of mine and I are organizing for the union, getting some people off the picket line to do media releases, letters to municipal politicians, and other assorted writing.

HAH. I am KICKING THIS PIG. You have never seen a pig as kicked at this. After a day drinking beer with friends and playing the batshit later sections of MGS2, I have made today's quota on the enormous Peake/Dickens essay, and intend to double it before I bed tonight. AND I've found some stunning original stuff, like the Hard Times reference in Titus alone and the Engels/Dickens connection stuff. Which means only 1000 words and a bit of footnoting to do tomorrow. And then I can get DRUNK and RELAX and generally do the things that I've been missing recently. AND I'm in love again and seem to be finally getting over last year's miserable, traumatic breakup.
Just maybe, things might possibly be alright...
Calloo! Callay!

Watching my students get appropriately and righteously angry with their school's Girls vs Boys week events now that they're learning semantics and how phrasing and asides are chosen and utilised.

Watching my students get angry and productive when they recognize how the world and some of its inhabitants are continually placating, insulting, and lying to them.

Watching my students accept the idea that disagreeing with something doesn't mean they "didn't get it" or that they are mentally deficient in some way.

Not have to downgrade much of my material from teaching undergrads to teaching high school students.

Yesterday was the anniversary of the last time I worked in a strip club. Quite significantly, yesterday I passed an exam to become Life License qualified. This means I can now take provincial exam and after passing them, I can apply for my agent license.

Yay! Transition, good!

"Into The Wild" gives me happy. Wintersleep's song "Weighty Ghosts" gives me happy. People of the opposite sex who show interest in me gives me happy. My meds give me happy. My parents give me happy. St Patty's day drinking set to begin soon gives me happy.

My new policy is to go with the flow. I'm happy.

Yep. That's me, unshaved but happy.

Our avocados are West Indian - bigger, smoother than the Mexican ones you're probably used to (which more closely resemble the third variety I think you get in South Asia). The problem is they very rarely ripen all over at the same time - one end has to get overripe before the rest is perfect. But perfect it is.

Congrats on the job. Be perfect at it!

Hello Barbelith, I’m back! I spent the last couple of days in bed with an indescribably painful back. Now I can move about and walk again, though I’m still unable to sit. I thought I wouldn’t be able to watch Bleach and Lost and check my emails for another couple of days (misery! horror!). But genius that I am I moved the computer under the desk and I’m now lying on the floor, propped up on my elbows (stretches the back and therefore a good position to be in). You can't get rid of me that easily...

That´s the spirit, imaginary cake! It doesn´t matter where you sit or lie, as long as you can log on and jump into the fray. I hope, your back will see the error of its ways and again give you all the support you deserve.
