We went to see the Mugenkyo Taiko Drummers earlier!

Who knew that 6 athletic young people banging sticks against animal skin could be so fucking sexy?

(I did, but it's nice to be reminded)

I get to live in a house again! A HOUSE! After a brief period of couching it in a series of welcoming (and welcome) but extremely uncomfortable abodes. A HOUSE. A converted amusement arcades with no windows but still what it loses in light it makes up in character.

But what about the ghosts? The ghosts of space invaders and of fingers caught in coinslits?

Expecting to have to pay over one hundred pounds for a solicitor's signature and then finding out it'll only cost a fiver is a pretty sweet start to your day.

If ghosts come after you in an arcade you just make sure you have lots of power pills.

Shrug, that's all sorts of awesome. Congrats!

---

After a late, late night of lil' monk's horribly high fever and vomiting, the doctor told us it's just an ear infection. I was afraid he'd have to go to the hospital! But nope, just a prescription and rest of the young one.

I was also afraid that, without insurance, the doctor visit and the 'scrip were going to seriously damage our finances. But no! Turns out we had a credit for something somewhere, so the office visit only cost us $30. AND. The 'scrip will be free thanks to a certain grocery store in the area. They're filling amoxycillin 'scrips for FREE! Yes, FREE! Fortune smiles.

And on a lesser but still happy note, my first serious shot at making an essential oil is a success. I cannot believe how good it smells (and tastes). So yay me for learning new skills and yay Wifey for having some cheesecloth handy for me to strain the oil thru.

I damn well deserve these happys, and I'm just going to luxuriate in them for a while. Please excuse while I make use of my smile muscles.

One thing is clear in our framing of questions such as `How did the Universe get started?' is that the Universe was self-creating. This is not a statement on a `cause' behind the origin of the Universe, nor is it a statement on a lack of purpose or destiny. It is simply a statement that the Universe was emergent, that the actual of the Universe probably derived from a indeterminate sea of potentiality that we call the quantum vacuum, whose properties may always remain beyond our understanding.

Happy. Maybe my name should be Quantum Vacuum, but then it just sounds like I'm a hoover.

Russian recipe page: New-year prescriptions of the lettuces.

The damp purified carrot or beet we rub on the large grater. We prepare the marinade: we pound in the mortar nuts and kinzu or grind in any other accessible manner, then we mix up vinegar, sugar, salt, nuts, kinzu and pepper. We press the enormous head of garlic in chesnokodavilke and throw into the prepared mixture, and we interfere, until sugar and salt are dissolved.

The thing that makes me happy is that I've finally started rehearsing with a band again after two years. Although the start has been rocky, I think we will be able to lose the y once we really get going.

I have enrolled in a BBC sponsored Community Orchestra all free like. This gives me a major happy because I haven't played in an Orchestra (or really played at all, for that matter) in about eight year. This is a major happy, because playing in an orchestra is a fucking great feeling. I also might be doing the same in a very similar choir.

This rules!

I JUST FOUND A TORRENT OF THE SONG FROM THE END OF PORTAL! (My favourite song of the year, without a doubt).

Not only does that give me a happy in itself, but knowing that I WIN AT BEING SHALLOW is also quite life-affirming.

Stoatie, I share your joy with the assistance of YouTube.

I don't even play computer games and I think I have to woo the computer from Portal. What a voice! What a sense of humour! What terrifying destructive capacity! Look at me, still talking when there's Science to do...

Yeah, I was gonna link the YouTube one but worried it might be too much temptation for people who hadn't played it yet...

...best videogame character EVER. Even the Big Daddies in BioShock were NOTHING compared to how much I loved that crazy psychotic AI.

I know that Kevin Rudd's still a reasonably nasty piece of work, but I'd like to say a pre-emptive "good riddance" to the execrable piece of filth currently running Australia.
