Belatedly, I actually am going to totally steal that for my screen name. Ta, Blake Head!

I finished Alice Hoffman's The Probable Future on the bus today, feeling a bit weepy in places. Enjoyable.

Before work I sat in the Accomplice's van with him at the lagoon, eating onion bagels smeared with whipped cream cheese spread using plastic knives. There were swans and seagulls out in the rain.

I'm going camping for easter. There will be trees, and a river, and a campfire, and easter eggs, and jaffles made in the campfire, and more trees, and fresh air, and I am delirious just thinking about it.

I made my perl script work! I specified it, adapted previous code, debugged it, it ran and it did exactly what I wanted it to. Without having to ask any local experts to advise or to help me debug it. And the results are great, and the graphs look good on the page. I just have to take a moment to celebrate my newfound competence and share it with all of you. Thanks.

You know, as much as it's a drag to read around this broken place some times, it's actually strangely cheering for me to see it still limp along. You guys are a scrappy bunch. I admire that in you.

Why would anyone want to hurt these giant aquatic teddy bears? Even as defenceless animals go, these guys are pretty damn, well, defenceless.

I suspect even the most eager predator looks at them and goes, "So..wait, they only have flippers? And they just float? Well, how about teeth, do they have teeth? Not really? And they just float? Fuck that, that is NOT a challenge."

Right now, the first page of FTVT has seven happily thriving threads dedicated to anime films and TV series, all thanks to the diligent efforts of Barbelith's small but passionate, insightful and intelligent group of fans of a medium that just a few years ago, meant little more to me than big-eyed cartoon people yelping about swords. Their never-not-worth-reading contributions, in these threads and anywhere else, are the core reason I decided to stick around and become a part of this board. Yes, you're to blame and you know just who you are.

Maybe this should have gone in the Barbe-crush thread, there's some demarcational crossover issues here yet to be resolved. Anyway, I couldn't go any further without posting: Barbanimepeeps give me a happy!

"If Gandhi had known we were such a pushover he could have been eating the whole time."

I really love Jon Oliver on The Daily Show. It's the best thing a comedian unknown by his fellow countrymen has done for quite a while.

DUDES! Go to Google, yeah? Then go to Maps. Then go to Directions. Then put "New York" in the origin field and "Paris, France" in the destination. Then scroll down to 23(!1!!) on the list of directions it gives you.

That is stunning, I almost cried.

Before work I was going to post about how happy my hair makes me, It's just passed a year since anyone went anywhere near it with scissors or styling products, It is stupid, looks rubbish, gets in the way, is very stupid, and earns me the (unasked for but rightly deserved (this hair is a crime!)) derision of right-thinking people, but it makes me very, very happy.

I'm glad I waited till after work, because today 2 different people, on seperate occaisions, instructed their children (They love to pay) to hand the card "to the lady". I've been mistaken for a woman for the first time in my life.

Awesome. I'm happy with my hair, for the first time in my life. It is such rubbish hair.

State, my hand is on my heart when I say that I know the pride of such a moment, to finally have achieved mastery of one's own hair after a lifetime of having not-good hair, even if it is just for a little while, when it isn't raining. We who will be there promise to admire your wonderfully feminine locks (or tresses) during breaks at the upcoming Evangelion marathon.
