I cooked roast lamb for a bunch of friends today. I love cooking and can't do as much as I want, and I had to do most of the prep yesterday. Everything was done by about half six, and I fell onto the sofa and into a deep dribbling sleep until just now when I woke up happy. Now I'm going to go and watch Amelie on telly in bed.

I have music playing, good music. I'm dumping CBC writer interviews onto my computer, along with more music. All of my books are finally shelved, even if it is completely haphazard and out of order, certainly, and even if I am going to be a very Middle-Aged Crazy Librarian Eccentric one day, and my house will look like Edward Gorey's. All the graphic novels have space and eventually I'll weed the comic books as well. Dishes are done. I had a beautiful dinner with a good friend that let us vent frustrations and discuss relationship problems, with nice drinks, and I walked away feeling more committed to my life and solving its problems.
