Am I alone in thinking that the posted picture of the snowcat above looks like some sort of Cheeto experiment gone wrong?

I am? Then I'll go sit back down.

Oh yes, the French language is making me very very very ecstatic these days.

Grammar clashes with the exciting world of professional cake decoration. This made me smile.

See I'm enough of a geek to have at first glance thought it was a highly clever cake for an IT person. I think my heart would explody if I received a birthday cake with a shell script greeting.

OK, I'm a crap friend when my friends aren't immediately available. Basically, I'm rubbish at keeping in touch. But I feel good because I finally got round to getting in touch with a good mate who left the country months ago.

Also I just got an email from someone I was kind of expecting not to get one from. I know, for many reasons, that it shouldn't have made me so happy, but goddammit it did.

Wicked, Oddman. Now don't do what I did and spend your whole time getting shitfaced.

Or at least, if you do, enjoy it.

I work in an office where I'm the only non-Francophone; and there's a certain level of English-language subculture that never quite penetrates through the strata to widespread popularity in Quebec.

Nobody in the office (with a large number of very cool 30-somethings) had ever heard of Bubba Ho-Tep, for instance. It is now the talk of the office. I can't wait to start circulating Cemetery Man.

I'm in the university's other library. Like, the secret library that it took me two years to find.

Ok, maybe it's not that secret and I'm just unobservant, but still, it feels weeeeeeird. Like I've stepped into a hidden dickensian library dimension.

Last night the spouse was listening to some lovely music, very soundtrackish. I curled up with him on the couch.

Me: "What ya listening too?"

Him: "Halo 2 soundtrack."

Me: "That makes you a super dork, doesn't it?"

Him: "You married me so that makes you the super dork."

Me: "I married their King."

Him: "Shut up."

Matt, do you own the Halo 2 soundtrack?

'Cause I'm listening to it now and it's pretty swell. Though I'm still not dork enough to mention that I'm still playing the game because I haven't heard all of the 500 lines of recorded battle converstation.

"Why is it always the beautiful ones?"

I heart my dorky spouse and luckily he hearts his geeky one.

Tentatively, tenderly, with some mild aprehension....

I think I might be...

....

... so weird...

...

...kinda unnatural even...

but maybe I'm...

..um, content?

I've just started doing work again, and I'm actually good at it. I don't hate poetry, or the study of poetry. It's wonderful. And it makes me feel clever and intimate with these complex, multi-layered and diverse things that sleep inside books. I mean, Keats, man, what a ride.

And the man who told me off has apologised

And I think I might actually finish this work

And I think I know why I've been feeling so at odds with the world. Or at least a big part of it.

I feel all good. It's like that time I took an E only it hasn't cost me £3.50.

Been having an ongoing argument about the BNP on Digital Spy with someone who's clearly a Stormfront member, out on the troll.

Went to look, and...

I got quoted on Stormfront as an example of a "liberal Fascist". Apparently saying the BNP are racists qualifies you as one. So I'm fairly fucking proud of that.

A MAN MIGHT FIND SUCH A SPECTACLE EXCITING.
BUT A MAN MIGHT ALSO QUESTION WHETHER IT IS A FITTING USE OF MEAT.
BUT THEN A MAN WOULD SURELY DECIDE THAT SURELY MEAT TASTES AT IT'S BEST ONLY WHEN COOKED ON THE HEAT OF FRENZIED COMBAT.
