Ugh. Chemistry. I didn't mind the maths, it was mechanisms and nomenclature that finished me off. That and bond angles.

Being Chemistry-free is a great weight off one's shoulders, believe me. Something to look forward to, that.

Currently, really bad films in theory turning out to have high points is giving me a happy. Mostly they're indefensible, but every now and then, a Really Really Really bad film will have one or two moments that show you, just a glimpse or a glimmer, of what could have been if someone had been there to slap the director, or the actors, or the editor; or all three at once.

Like Silent Hill? That was pretty crap, but had some nice visual, visceral moments.

In this case, believe it or not, it was Crank; yes, yes, I know, but I can't help but feel that if they dumped the girlfriend's scenes and re-edited it so that Chev was just calling her and she wasn't picking up, that it would have been a better film - nothing against Amy Smart, but I feel most of her scenes were, well, gratuitous.

Granted, without her the film would move from Slightly Homoerotic to Very Homoerotic, but maybe it'd be better for it.

A friend of mine (who's been having a pretty shit time of it recently) has just been accepted onto the heavily oversubscribed college course she thought she had no chance of getting onto.

While taking the dog out for her evening constitutional on the road 'round the corner, I spotted a fox emerging from the foliage next to a house by the cemetery. Ze stood alert on the wall in the bright streetlight with the dark forest of trees behind hir, and watched cautiously until we left. Sachabelle didn't notice, which was probably for the best as it would have no doubt sparked the odd gleeful bark from her, so after a few moments of enjoying the fox's wildness, I returned home, glowing slightly as I always do when I have been in the presence of urban wildlife.

Saw one yesterday morning. Sheena was bamboozled, I think is the only word for her reaction. Good word, anyway.

The word "bamboozled" gives me a happy.

Goddess bless you sweet child.
Seventeen years old, today.
I miss you, little girl,
Even though I went away.

Yes, today makes me happy because I can remember what a fine woman you are becoming. I pray you will want to meet me one day. I pray you are safe and fulfilled in your life.

Happy Birthday, from your birth mom.

Well, at least I am not weeping alone. Thanks for the company, Stoats. ..and *huggles* - mostly because I need one!

I really wasn't sure if I should post in this thread or the miserable thread, but I decided to make this as happy as possible, despite the bittersweetness of it all.

Let's just say you've decided to do something unique.

You hike, by foot (and using kites) to the Pole of Inaccessibility.

It's in almost the centre of Antarctica.

What's the first thing you see when you get there?

Why, Comrade Lenin, of course!

"We saw this black dot on the horizon. It got larger, then we saw this silhouette of the statue. It was so surreal after travelling across 1,750km of flat Antarctic plateau," said Mr Cookson.

I´ve discovered a new and fabulous band this evening! "New" meaning, I hadn´t heard of them yet (they started over twenty years ago!). They´re called Ozric Tentacles and their sound is amazing (highly psychedelic mixture of thumping basslines, sound effects and danceable keyboard and guitar work). They´re connected to Simon Posford, who, together with Raja Ram, is a a member of another favourite band of mine, Shpongle.
