I just came across this: http://david-drake.com/faq.html

and was sort of fascinated.

I've never read anything by this guy, but his description of the process is pretty good - from idea through plotting, writing and even publishing problems.

And the bit about the origin of Kurosawa's "Yojimbo" is also kind of cool.

Anyone got any other inspiring writer sites?

I never really utilise writer's resource sites - like Drake says there, there's never a "right way" to do stuff. It's always personal preference.

This, while not being particularly inspirational, is a good list of publishers which will accept manuscripts from agent-less writers.

I also found Stephen King's book On Writing exceptionally inspirational. It's worth a look even if you're not a King fan (which I'm not particularly).
