OK. The transition to the new site is literally days away - we should be over to it by the end of the next week, with any luck. And then of course, the bitching can begin!

BUT before we move over, we've got some work that needs to be done here first....

1) THE MERGING

Do you have alternative fiction suits that you'd like to merge together? Perhaps your last suit died and you'd like to reassociate all your previous posts with your current identity?

If your old suit died, then tell us its name and we'll try and merge it with your current suit (if we're sure it's you).

If you want to merge two working suits together, then let us know by posting "I WOULD LIKE TO MERGE THIS SUIT WITH ....." in this thread, once from EACH SUIT (so that we know you own them both).

2) The Purging of the suits.

Do you have any old suits lying around that you're a bit ashamed of? Old fashioned crap, perhaps?

Then post "BURN THIS SUIT" in this thread and we will do so. REMEMBER WE WON'T BURN IT UNLESS YOU POST "BURN THIS SUIT" WHILE USING THE SUIT YOU WANT BURNT - how else are we going to know it's definitely you!?


3) If possible, could you start sorting out your private messages - and make sure that you're not going to miss them if they get lost in transit over to the new board?

Sorry - I can only merge suits that have both existed since the last board collapse. Find me a thread with your old suit on it, and I'll prepare them for the merging...

I would like for this suit to be merged with the old Flux suit, which had the log in name Ronald Thomas Clontle, and was member #132.

Also: will our screen name be fixed once you switch over? If so, please let us know at least a day in advance, as if I have to just have one name that won't change, I'll just go with simply Flux, but until then, I'd still like to switch the name up on a whim.

Sorry Ganesh - for a variety of reasons I can't delete them if you do it like that. You have to log-in as the suit concerned and tell me to delete you - otherwise I don't know it's you.

More to the point I have to know suit number not name in order to be able to delete it... (which I can get easily if you post in that suit, but not easily otherwise)

Tried logging in with the few I do remember and got 'no-one of that name registered here' - so either my suit closet vanished with the last incarnation or when 'Ganesh' corrupted. So don't worry about 'em.

Not sure this belongs here, but in for a pence, in for a pound. I've two questions re the new transition. First, Tom, I got an email today saying post in the next 24 hours or be culled. I'm all for culling, I've been in a transition meself and had less time than previously, so I appreciate the heads up to maintain my presence here. But...isn't 24 hours a bit short, not everyone logs on every day. I'd have thought the weekend notice would be a bit more easy to users. Not bitchin', really, I love this place and how you handle it, just a friendly suggestion for the future. Secondly, I'm finding the search engine for topics keeps giving me errors and won't work, and i desparately love search engines to work. Is there a fix in store for the post-transition? Thanks for your time and consideration, this is a superlative place.

I have another suit with the log -in name Sax, Tom, but I can't remember the pass-word. Or whether it died or I just don't use it. If you can find it, you can kill it (this suit has a different log-in name) or merge it with this one.

i wouldn't mind this suit being merged with my old suit, which i believe was also called count adam (it may have had "the diabolical" tacked on to the start), and mysteriously just up and died one day.
that would bump up my number of posts and make me feel much more important.

I've got a question about the new board's functionality. At work, where I do most of my posting from, I use an old, old version of Netscape (version 4.0 for Windows NT) and as the board is right now, I often have problems with certain forums freezing up on me and crashing my browser every so often. Is the new board gonna work for me? It is impossible for me to update this godawful software as don't have admin privileges on this machine and the firewall prevents downloads of updates.
