Brits to your videos, the return of Brasseye

Amazingly and againest the odds (personnally never thought channel 4 would have the balls to repeat this) brasseye returns to our screens.
Starts on July 5, 10.35 with a special, new edition of brass eye followed by the start (11.10) of a repeat run of the series (as it says in my tv guide here).

Hurrah and cake for everyone...

Goody. I somehow managed to miss the entire series last time 'round. Which leads me to ask a question.

The 'Grade is a cunt' story - true or false?

True, at the end of the last episode it either flashes up on the screen or can be seen on a screen behind morris.
In response to the pulling of the peter sutcliffe musical spoof I believe.

This is cool as I always find that I never, ever tape any of the stuff that I really enjoy - ie this and the absolutely joyous Blue Jam/ Jam stuff... mmmmm..... welcome.....

Wait - urk - Chris Morris is GAY?
Noooo! No wonder he's so good looking . . .

Last time round, a friend of mine, whose studio's done the sound for all Morris's stuff so far, and frequently gets pissed with him, thrust some copies of uncut Brasseye in my direction.

He's told me that 'Trombone' mainly concerns child abuse. They're seriously worried that channel 4 won't be able to air it without some severe cuts. Sitting in the studio, watching his show being sound dubbed, Chris turned to my mate and asked, "Shit, did I really put that in?"

James describes watching him wince every now and then.

>>>True, at the end of the last episode <Grade is a cunt> either flashes up on the screen or can be seen on a screen behind morris.<<<

It's actually a single-frame message that appears during the "Moral Decline" episode, while Morris is in the hospital room discussing what to do with the dying Great Britain ("Or, do we revive it....and then kill it for letting us down so badly!").

N-n-new edition of Brass Eye? Is this the restored episode of "Moral Decline" with the Sutcliffe musical? Or a new episode entirely?

And someone must find out when Trombone airs and tell me.

Tom-

Quick Morris-Suck Verification: He has a massive purple birthmark that covers half his face, which is disguised with makeup for when he appears on television. If you look closely you can just make it out...

Gimme an idea what to expect, people - I've not seen it before. Similar to Jam? That late-night, fucked-up thing? I remember seeing some of that - the one about the kid killer... is it anything like that?

Actaully, though, I'm not sure anyone knows yet, or, if they do, they might be keeping schtum.

It is the other way round, from the last episode.

And can we start a 'Chris Morris is gay' rumour, and say that his wife Jo Unwin is just his beard (in a kind of Oscar Wilde's missus kind of way?)?

And did anyone see 'World of Pub' the other night? That quick cut-away style is quite fashionable now isn't it?

To say that I'm happy to learn that Brass Eye is coming back is somewhat of an understatement.

If anyone misses it, I'll be taping the whole lot, and I can be bribed...

If anyone has E4 the whole of Brasseye will be shown in one 3 hour lump. Saturday 30th June 9:00pm to 12:00am. (21:00 to 00:00)

You'll fucking love it!

as long as you're sure varis. Saw it advertised to be on E4 back in may. Think I'll stick to the weekly showing from next thursday.

It was going to run originally in June but was delayed because of the election, E4 claimed they couldn't show it because it featured some of the politicians standing for reelection and would be prejudicial. So you can put the boot in at any time except when the bastards are directly after your vote. I see.

BUT, looking at my RT for next week, it seems as though C4 are only showing Trombone and the first episode of Brass Eye. Can anyone with a bigger crystal ball look into the future and confirm whether the entire thing is going to be rebroadcast on terrestrial telly?

AS I'm not in England, I don't have access to Radio Times - can someone tell me when Trombone is being broadcast (specific date and time) - I need to ring a friend to record it for me...

Right, as far as I'm aware, it's airing on July 5th: the 'Brasseye Special' IS 'Trombone'.

I know this A. Because my mates who've been working on it inform me that no 'Brasseye Special' was ever made; and B. Because, as they went on to explain, Channel 4 is concerned 'Trombone' gets good ratings - and this may only be possible if it's advertised under a name with which the public are already familiar.

So will Chanel Four be showing the whole thing proper eventually, and not just E4? And yes, it's "Brass Eye Special" and "Animals" on on Thursday night. And they've cut the "Grade is a cunt" scene.

hmm this trombone theory makes sense especially since none of the TV reviewers have been gioven any advance preview of this supposed special...

OK... so here's some info for you:

The "Brass Eye Special" is 15 mins longer then a Brass Eye episode.

E4 is repeating it TONIGHT. Anyone wanna tape it for me and send it to me? Will pay in actual monies if forced. Will also be grateful.

Oh yeah, and it's nine til twelve, if it helps.

Please?

It's not a theory.

I've just had it confirmed; 'Trombone' was the working title for the 'Brasseye Special'.

Wasn't one of the old Brass Eyes about child abuse? Or was that just part of it?

Sorry, I was eating cake most of the time the series was on originally.

BTW, does anyone else find it ironic that Michael Grade - who as we all know by now, cut the Peter Sutcliffe musical from Brass Eye - is now a major bigwig on the Index on Censorship series of periodicals?
