Tom,

I get to be the lucky member to have my profile disappear.

as I posted in Pin's thread it appears that the system is recognizing my old user name and password but is unable to find the profile file.

Last time around did you try tech support from the Ultimate BBS developer? This seems to be happening so much here on Barbelith maybe they've encountered this before with other customers.

I'm confused... which thread of mine is this?

And is there any way round this problem? Could we try a different program? Or am I just talking crap?

Whoops. I meant Ellis' thread.

I'm a little flustered being designated to the dispossesed and I misposted.

Bad gremlins! BAD!

Hmmm, and I seem to have derailed a brilliant thread in the Magick just by posting a reply. It's the old "member 0000020 not recognised" message.

Also the Internal Server Error seems to be coming up far more frequently than ever before.

Tom, does your host just not like us? Would it make a difference if we promised to wash our feet before posting?

The paranoid in me keeps wanting to think it's the Global Government agencies trying to disrupt us because we are a threat, but then I just sigh, shake my head and try to post again without destroying anything.

Do we have to do the account up grade thing, would this help or am I clutching at straws?

Ouch. The upgrade thing is almost prohibitively expensive, if you recall. I gather Tom's thinking about changing the software altogether, but it's got to be a biiiiiig drag. How many times has he had to redo all this crap?

Save your fave threads, boys and girls. And rock the 'lith...

Saving threads is a very good idea, because...

When this "No profile found for Member #whatever" problem crops up, all threads that contain posts from that member become inaccessible. Imagine what could happen to a forum if the profile of a moderator went screwy in this way.

You're just like those scientists on 'Equinox' that tell us the Earth is going to be sterilized by gamma rays, or the moons orbit will change and crash into the sun, or that Michael Jackson will release another record. It's not going to happen!

Just wondering, has there been any word from the Infopop help boards yet?

I just found out my profile had been erased.

I put it back. Happiness ensued.

We've got a way to fix the problem when someone's profile goes astray. And I ran it yesterday. When I do it though, the people whose user names were corrupted will have to reregister. Sorry kids...
