After a quick flipthrough:

- 'Myles...have you ever had a girlfriend?'
- they all shower together!!!
- and, um, deadgirl?!?!?!

But is it genuine or staged?

Actually, my favourite part of this issue was the letter from James Hammack, and even better was the response. By far the most entertaining letter column in a long time.

Zoom.

Damn it, Zoom - I was going to say that!

No doubt, James, if there ever were a revamp driven by bottom-line imperative, it's X-Force. It's high time this series stopped dealing with "warm and fuzzy" issues like racial identity, miscegenation, and celebrity culture and start dealing with the ultra-fresh concept of alienated youths doing their best to prevail in a society that doesn't understand them.

I really dug the bit in which they talk about Rob Liefeld (in implication) and why they need to change the name of the group...

I found the first X-Force trade of this run today in Borders.

Wow.

Fuck artwork, it's effective but I don't care... it's so fucking... funny. Nothing like what I expected; I really, really want to start buying this title. Yeah. Very, very good. Especially "Snikt"...

Paleface, the best part of X-Force is that those first five issues are probably the weakest... it gets better as it goes along.

I was telling someone today, that it's really hard for me to say whether I like New X-Men or X-Force more - I think they are equals, but whenever I'm reading one , it's my favorite at that moment.

It's a bit like this: I love X-Force the same way that I love The Daily Show and The Simpsons, and I love New X-Men the way that I love Empire Strikes Back...

X-Force is certainly the more accessable and radical of the two, for sure...

Exactly how I feel. I'm really enjoying the new story arc - it's got a really nice atmosphere. And it had me pissing myself.

I can just imagine Spike's overeager, excited, X-Fan voice:

"The great new is - on this mission you'll be fighting aliens!"

Or whatever.

Right. Forbidden Planet <shudder>, here I come.

Has it been established whether or not Spike (the owner, not to be confused w/ 'The Spike') is a direct representation of somebody? In the same way the Coach was, say a representation of Jack Kirby? Or do you think Spike's just an amalgamation of an internet boom/x-games/20-something billionaire?

Anyone else notice how many time characters within the comic pointed at other characters like when Death pointed at our "doomed heroes"?

Well this month's X-Force stands head and shoulders over the rather lame New X-Men*, I feel.

Top stuff.

Have you seen next months cover? Good lord..

(*I can't believe I just typed that sentence. What am I turning into?)

It's ok Riz, the Filth will be out soon and we can pray for a return to form (I hate that sentence).

X force is at this point the only comic I'll go out of my way to pick up.
And I couldn't tell you why.
It's just great.

quinine92001: I noticed all the pointing as well, like how there was someone pointing at deadgirl when she appeared, and it looked like doop was pointing at somebody (don't have my copy here, but I think it was orphan[?]).

I also like how the CIA guy's suit totally blends into the black background. And then of course the whole 'Bush Rangers' thing...

um .. actually I was more worried that I was straight-facedly comparing two issues of X-men comics using wrestling match style phrasing.. I'm confident Grant M. can pull off a return to goodness within the month.

I'm going to marry Uncle, make him watch Buffy, read NXM AND The Invisibles vol. 3.

He will be a good boy.

yknow what? - despite participating in it myself, this whole, 'which x-comic is better shnonsense' is just plain daft.

isn't x-force just fab tho!?

I find my thoughts returning to deadgirl more and more. Who is she? What can she do? And, is she Madman's sister? Cause she kind of looks like him. Sigh, she makes me feel all squishy inside...
