Invisibles last "sentence"

Anyone of you english-speaking guys understand the ending of The Invisibles? The way I interpret it, when Jack says "Your sentence is up", it can both be understood as "Your prison sentence is over" and "Now it's your turn to say something".

Is this correct?

Yea, pretty much.

Thats how I interpretted it anyway.

Barbelith's a protective womb, shielding us while we evolve into our next form. As a shield, it also keeps us locked out from the truth of our existence. When it implodes, when we reach our next stage and are born into a new reality, we're cast free from its shackles.

Possibly.

Actually-I took as this.A sentence is ends with a period. The time period was up as was the sentence.
If you place"I"(ego) into sentence you have sentience....his-story?

It's "our sentence is up".

From an age-old email I received from Grant shortly after issue 1 came out:

"No-one yet has noticed that Jack is quoting and so the period isn't the end - the book ends on invisible " marks which are outside the frame in 'reality'..."

Thanks guys. I'm trying to write a little piece for a newspaper here in the hopelessly retarded country of Sweden (when it comes to comics). The largest literature convention here is in Gothenburg in September, and it usually invites two or three comic creators (under the banner Comics 2001). This year, they invited Bud Grace, Don Rosa, and 74-year old Sy Barry (who drew The phantom). All of them have previously visited that very same convention, Bud Grace at least five times (probably more). My idea is write a VERY indignated text, stating that the person they should have invited, had they had any sense, is Grant.

Please keep posting ideas on that last sentence.

He may not be quoting anything, but as the comic is deconstructing the meaning of what being a comic book means it is appropriate that his line begins to be shown as it would in Grant's script or in novel form. you know as in: jack says, "..."
it doesn't end because "nothing ends that isn't something else starting."
it's our story ours. we have to make it ours and that's why we were instructed to burn each issue after we read 'em.

yeah, and i too saw it as both the gramatical sentence and our "prison" sentence to those fictitional gods who were once needed, but no more. it's evolution of the mind. we don't need gods anymore, we are beyond that now.

But in the grammatical interpretation, does "Our sentence is up" mean 'It's our time to say something' or 'Our language is over'. In other words, does "is up" indicate 'it's time' or 'it's over'???

And he was quoting Elfayed. (I've reread it now.)

or "UP" as in a direction...

our destiny is an upward motion . . .
that sort of thing...

Also Elfayed seemed to quote rumi if a recall correctly... I still think Jack was quoting Elfayed who was quoting Rumi....

You're on the fucking Internet, you've got access to the sum total of human fucking knowledge and you have to fucking ask us "Who's Rumi?"
http://www.google.com/search?q=rumi

Simple as that. Jesus. I mean, are you people paying no fucking attention whatsoever? This thing is NOT just a TV with a typewriter attached: its JOB is to find information.
