More of an eternal wind-up. You never get to know the punchline, maybe maybe.

06:07 / 18.04.08
I've got to work in the morning, so I'm going to have to head off to bed. Good night Shifters!

Night, LN.

I have to learn how to turn my phone off. Really, really must learn.

What fresh crisis has rung itself into your life tonight?

Decadent Daytripper in Love
06:21 / 18.04.08
Avoiding two different events, phone calls to go out drinking, while trying to arrange travel schedules for the next five months, and field a bit of weirdness involving a longterm no-sex monogamous relationship and why people should just do whatever they feel is best (which is probably horrible advice, but it sounds and feels good). I missed a deadline. And my nieces would like me to visit more often.

Sounds complicated.

You know, "Do what you feel is best" is really the only advice that can be given in most situations. Or it feels that way, sometimes.

I'm going to spend half an hour cleaning my apartment. It's getting a little Edward Gorey in here, with all those piles of books and dishes and clothes.

Once it's clean, I'm totally going to write. Honestly.

Decadent Daytripper in Love

I'm just hoping no one actually shows up here tonight. It's a very selfish hope, sure, and I admit sometimes I may want to be dragged out into the light and flash and the booze and bad music, but not tonight. Tonight, food, comics, trying to repair damage done by the bypassed deadline, and maybe a movie.

I've been reading the trades for Gotham Central, so if you have any of that on hand I suggest you read them. Recommended. I'm going to start a thread maybe in a bit.

Decadent Daytripper in Love

Haven't done Gotham Central in awhile, but really enjoyed what I read of it. Just did some fo Rucka's Superman stuff this afternoon, though.

I think it's gonna be an Avengers night, tonight. Busiek Avengers. And, no, I don't know why.

I read the couple issues that Alan Davis pencilled, but otherwise -- is it any good?

Decadent Daytripper in Love

It's fun and fast, based more in being excited when Hank McCoy shows up and kisses Wonder Man in the foyer, or the news asks Iron Man if he's a religious bigot for following a villain back to a church, than it sustains any real action bits. There are action bits, and some are pretty good, but it's soap opera where someone has to remember there needs to be punches and 'splosions eventually or we'd never leave the cafe table where X is cheating on Y with Z whose mysterious undead brother is betraying A who is secretly a split personality of Y.

I do like that Perez is one of those comics artists who has his figures act. People sit differently, they have expressions all the time, gestures, focuses... that's weirdly rare in comics.

But, really, I think it's just the homey feeling that's drawing me in tonight.

I've just picked up Iron Fist to read tonight. I don't know. Maybe I'm in the mood for some punching and kicks.

Decadent Daytripper in Love

The main problem with Busiek's Avengers is that it's entirely forgettable as soon as you've put it down.

I never quite caught on to the new Iron Fist book, but it certainly has its fans. May pick it up when the new writer comes on, just to try it out again.

Smith & Papers

It's decent. It's very Seventies and makes no apologies. It's even funny. I get a bit bored of the played-out legacy bullshit, but it's Iron Fist, it was built right into the concept, so there's no way 'round it. It might hold me until I can get my hands on the next Gotham Central trade.

Triplets
(prev. I AM THE DARK! I AM THE NIGHT!)

I still want to see a series of IRN FST, about a caffine-fueled martial artist with drink cans strapped to his strong, strong hands.

Powerade Man and Irn Fist?

Dazzler

Feverfew and Triplets should co-write all the comics.

Smith & Papers

As long as there's a letter page! And then I could write to the comic for each issue and eventually turn into T.M. Maple or some other distinguished letterhack from back in the days when people still wrote "letters" that they put into "envelopes" for the purposes of mailing them. Back before all this "e-mail" nonsense.

*shakes his cane at them there whippersnappers!*

I'm great. I'm in the stages of seducing a woman 7 years my juniour into leaving her boyfriend whilst ALSO courting a woman 7 years my seniour. Life is made for this.

Sometimes you have to be a bit "saucy." Try seducing the boyfriend as well, just to cover your bases.

Kali, owner of a mouthy cat

Trips, if you achieve this, then I must insist you accompany me on my future honeymoon.

Keggers. Classic.

'saucy' Nobody is saucy nowadays. In fact I think its been so long since Ive seen someone saucy that Im afraid I wouldnt recognize it.

augh! The eternal dilemma! Do I cycle up to the 24-hour garage for cheap whiskey and rizlas, or go slowly mad here with no booze, no company and an endless search for things to roll with?

Keggers. Classic.
05:11 / 19.04.08
Im here! Im company! What's a rizla?

Withiel: DALI'S ROTTWEILER
05:13 / 19.04.08
Well, fair enough. Rizla+ - rolling paper for filthy rollie cigarettes.
(interesting history of the name, comes from "riz", as in French for rice paper, and "LaCroix", the original manufacturer's family name. Hence Rizla+)

sigh, I miss wasted. Ive never been inapropriate. Oh how my youth was wasted.

Reporting for duty with whiskey and Peep Show.
O God.

In other news, what's the word for one's partner's partner? There must be one, but is there?
That is the [BOOZE] question [BOOZE]?

Ah! Now I know. (and knowing is half the battle)

The other half, sadly, is usually violence.
