40 seconds!

could have been in the 30s, but I hovered over the last question for a bit, as though I actually know the Hindi word for "sky" and would be able to remember it if I stare at the answers long enough. plah.

I think... there is a lesson in this.

If I wait until late to do the trivia, the highest score will already be taken by the time I post. I will not have to sit and watch and wait and know that somebody, somewhere, is coming to take it from me.

Perhaps I will be asleep this time when the quiz resets and won't want to be the first out of the gate. Perhaps.

There is another lesson: Even if you score zero, if you do it fast enough, you will still gain points.

I've just realized that I can turn in my points for prizes. I'm now the proud owner of 1 "basketed cat":

Anyone else have any awesome pets/cars/trophies/etc?

The Undertoad
13:28 / 03.03.08
I am saving up for the Kitty, Puppy and Ball. Unfortunately, it is quite expensive.

Papess
13:40 / 03.03.08
I am saving up for pirate loot or a money tree.

E. Randy Dupre
15:39 / 03.03.08
Today's history test consited of four questions on musicals, four on linguistics and two on mythology. None on history.

Papess
15:50 / 03.03.08
Wasn't today general trivia?

E. Randy Dupre
15:55 / 03.03.08
Not when I click on the link, it isn't.

Unless that's a bonus question.

Papess
16:34 / 03.03.08
Oh you are right. The questions are so irrelevant to history, it was an easy misunderstanding, I guess.

Just how Emcee's buttocks in Cabaret are relevant to history would take a team of historians and playwrights.

brb
17:31 / 03.03.08
If that team can be found anywhere, it's probably here.

Papess
17:36 / 03.03.08
Go Team Barbeltih!

It would make an interesting thread. I would start it but I wouldn't know where to begin.

brb
02:35 / 04.03.08
It would certainly provide a sharp answer to those who piss and moan about the death of this place!

Bang in the middle.

My mediocrity only increases...

5. Why are romance novels so popular?

I wish I could care enough to register an account and complain. Because I'm just waiting to get "Everybody tells me how cute my puppy is. Is it possible that I have the cutest puppy in the world?" on the next religion quiz.

But... grunty fatigue. My cocoa tastes chalky and my trivia tastes bitter and the world is swathed in darkness, which is usually what bedtime looks like anyway.

No! I´ve had two Dark Tower questions. Are those books really worth reading? Wading through all these huge volumes when the slim first book was already so boring seems to have a lot of appeal for many readers.

No! I´ve had two Dark Tower questions

Two, count yourself lucky, I had FIVE! And I've never even heard of it, what is Dark Towers? Five questions on a subject I've never even heard of makes my six look otherwise respectable.

for better or worse, the other volumes are much less like the first one and much more like his other work. there's a big gap of time between when he wrote the first one and when he started the next. like 10+ years.

Aha, thanks for the info, Iron Pants! I guess I could give the 2nd volume a chance sooner or later.

Is it bad that I haven't gotten a Dark Tower question wrong yet?

Of course it isn´t bad, because now you can write the Barbelith loves Trivia Dark Tower FAQ.

Three Stephen King questions, all correct via guessing. I see his name, I don't even bother to read the question, I just click a button and move forward.

Jack Fear
22:03 / 04.03.08
Yeah. How can anybody be expected to know anything about Stephen King? I mean, Jesus, the guy's work has only been read and enjoyed by, like, millions upon millions of people.

Tsuga
22:50 / 04.03.08
Stephen King is a popular writer, but for Christ's sake, the amount of Dark Tower questions is preposterous.

brb
00:35 / 05.03.08
I don't give a fuck how many people read his shit, no way should 30% of the questions be about a single author, not even Shakespeare.

Triplets
(prev. I AM THE DARK! I AM THE NIGHT!)
01:34 / 05.03.08
Complaining about Stephen King questions will, honestly, only lead to more Stephen King questions.

Paralis
02:29 / 05.03.08
It could be a good deal worse. Somebody could go and flood the triv-server with Jeffrey Archer questions instead.

My complaint with the Stephen King is that I've read thousands and thousands of pages of his stuff. And I feel like I'm ashamed enough already that, by number of unique pages read, he's probably my favorite author ever. But now they're going to come back and tell me that I read all the wrong Stephen King? That Rose Madder and Eyes of the Dragon and Needful Things didn't count?

I'll be off in the corner, sobbing quietly.

I´ve just had to save this for posterity.

Can I just say that I fucking hate cleverness? Particularly when it's not, you know, quite that?

7. Which of the following actresses starred in the movie merger of "The Breakfast Candles"?

There is only one response to this degree of chicanery. The answer can only be spiders.

Gleeeushusheshusheush! I have had three Dark Tower questions!

Please, people, play today. I got a perfect 10 points, and right now, I´ll only get three points awarded for them!

Same dilemma as last time: I somehow got ten answers right and only get a measly five points. Egads! We need more players. There are still eight hours left. Barbeloids of the Americas, I´m looking at you!

Play and try to beat my score, please.
