Well, if you're a New York Straight Man maybe a Northern Scallie appears wonderfully exotic.

But why?
But it's not the people, it's the geography! The sights are marketed as if I fap whilst thinking "oh yeah, southern hemisphere, mmm, yeah".

I don't. I fap for the nudity and sex. Knowing that someone is only a few hours from the Washinton Monument (or whatever) is not part of my jolly.

It's too late, you're already part of the Lateshift?

"Knowing that someone is only a few hours from the Washinton Monument (or whatever) is not part of my jolly."

I just misread that as:

"Knowing that someone is only a few hours from the Watershipdown Moment (or whatever) is not part of my jolly."

Tomorrow is made of Superman. Papers is made of happy.

I'm curious to find out if anyone is writing theses on the Semiotics of Internet Porn, truly, where the fetish of geography is examined in weirdly minute detail. And, really, is it surprising? It just feeds into the weird exoticized Other, and there's that "sexy accent" thing...

Keggers From The Crypt
06:24 / 14.11.07
sigh, nobody ever says Canucks have sexy accents.

(I had to retype that, I wrote 'sexy accidents")

We totally have sexy accidents.

I don't really worry about the Canadian sex appeal thing, I coast along with my poet sex appeal and my redhead sex appeal.

Keggers From The Crypt

That redhead thing really is a get out of jail free card, isnt it?

Yeah, reds rock; and the whole insane thing they all have going is interesting as well.

I was made of martinis earlier.

Its been ages since I've a martini. I think the last one I had was with a fellow lither. Hmmm. I must endevor to encorporate more martini drinking in my life.

It had been a while -- it was nice to come home to them. It felt more like being me again, in a weird and honestly not alcoholic way...

Keggers From The Crypt

I understand completly. I usually have my glass of wine nightcap. Its one of those things that becomes a "thing that you do"

My wine is gone and so will I.

g'night

Am I lost, alone, withdrawn, locked in a stone-walled room with iron door, trapped forever by the lateshift, with no one else to comfort me...

Why did I think mildly leaving Barbelith alone for a few days would be a good thing?

Though, sliding back in feels pretty good.

Shifty, yes? I'm at work, it's raining, I'm checking in new books with shining covers...

I'm beginning to wonder if I'll have any work, coming up here.

And missing deadlines on the prose and poetry front because I've been so caught up with the strike. I think I'd actually like to go back to Nebraska, now, just so it wouldn't be the immediate conversation all the time.

Deculture Decedent
03:34 / 16.11.07
And I've realized, I'm totally due for new books. For myself.

It's really not necessary for me to reread Ada again so soon, which is where I've found myself the last few days.

It's as bad when you're not technically out, but merely rotating or withdrawing services--all day long, people ask if we've made any headway or assume that as we're working, we've reached an agreement. I'm so tired of being asked about it.

Deculture Decedent
03:41 / 16.11.07
Ouch.

This living on the edge stuff, and the man of ethics standing up and sticking it to The Man stuff, it's all supposed to make us feel young and potent, or so I've been told. I have serious doubts that it's actually worked out that way for many.

On the other hand, I have rediscovered that I actually kinda like Cake and have all of their albums on my iTunes. So I'm doing that and having a cup of coffee.

I'm waiting to leave work so I can pick up a tub of ice cream. It's cold and miserable out, but all I can think about is tin roof sundae. I have a sickness.

Cake's good--Sheep go to heaven! Goats go to hell!--but I can only listen to them for so long...

Deculture Decedent
03:49 / 16.11.07
I so want ice cream right now! But can't be bothered to go back out.

There is a tub of fudge ice cream in the freezer but it's not technically mine, so I'd feel guilty stealing it. Unless there's a law that says when people leave things in your freezer they're yours. I'd love that law about now.

And, actually, losing the contract on one of my pieces is a blessing only very thinly disguised. It needs a lot of work (it's about as close to satire as I feel comfortable doing), to get it really worthwhile, and they were looking to rush it into production (to avoid the strike, funny enough). It's my 'the guy we all dated/used-to-be at some point, and would rather forget' piece. And I'm being too nice to that guy, in the script as it is. He can just be a clueless ass about things. It is, in fact, funnier, when he is, so I just need to take the time and force myself to write that.

It's settled, I'm getting ice cream. Then I'm going home and working on the third draft of that ghost story.

Go for the gusto! an all that.

I'm happily sliding back into writing tonight. Which, I thought I wouldn't be up to.

That's good to hear. I love when the lateshift starts brimming up with creative energies and lurid descriptions of culinary experience.

Am I the only one without any Friday Night Plans?

Keggers From The Crypt
05:31 / 17.11.07
no. My plans got sidetracked by a large dose of sick. But on the plus side I am REALLY enjoying the dizzy spells.

I'm stuck at work for another twenty-five minutes and I want to stab a pencil into my eyelid because of this bloody stye.

Deculture Decedent

Ride those dizzy spells from what they're worth.

My plan's were waylaid by sudden lack of accessible funds. Instead, my new plans are a pizza and some scotch. I anticipate dizzy spells of my own, if I do this right.

Keggers From The Crypt

Oooh! If you do, please put a picture of that in the STARE thread?
