Sleep tight, Veng.

Soba noodles! They make me happy and stave off desperate ennui.

Sometimes I wonder if I should streamline my iTunes, but really, having it move from the Pogues' Misty Morning, Albert Bridge to Yoko Kanno's Cats on Mars to Dylan's I am a Lonesome Hobo is kinda magickal at eleven thirty p.m.

And if someone weren't asleep halfway across the room from me, I'd probably be singing out loud at this point. Alcohol + caffeine + fading stress = singing aloud. At least, for me.

Is the someone anyone exciting?

Deculture Decedent
08:54 / 23.10.07
I think they're just exhausted.

Though, you have to appreciate anyone who shows up at the door, tells you they brought you horrible comics and they need your couch for a few hours.

Deculture Decedent
09:00 / 23.10.07
So I'm sitting in relative darkness with the headphones on low, being sorta conscientious. Because who knows when I'll need their couch, right?

Although, given history, I should be more worried about her boyfriend's conscience than her own, in such a case.

Earth calling Lateshift... come in lateshift.

Deculture Decedent
06:02 / 24.10.07
Here I am, sitting in a tin can far above... wait, no, I'm on Earth.

Where's the lateshift, if I'm not in it and you're not in it?

Keggers From The Crypt
06:08 / 24.10.07
good question. One worthy of much pondering.

Deculture Decedent
06:13 / 24.10.07
That's what I've started to call drinking; pondering. It sounds more respectable.

Sounds good to say 'I've been pondering all evening,' even if it was pondering straight from the bottle.

Keggers From The Crypt
06:19 / 24.10.07
reminds me of the line from Pinky and the Brain.

"Are you pondering what Im pondering?"

Deculture Decedent
06:22 / 24.10.07
Horrible parts of my brain which are much less clever than they'd like to think want very much to turn that Pink & the Brain phrase into a pick up line. It'd be innately seedy even if Pinky's responses didn't inevitably involve horses and rubber pants or the like.

Keggers From The Crypt
06:26 / 24.10.07
Im not sure whether horses and rubber pants would be a plus or minus. mmmm..must ponder some more.

Deculture Decedent
06:29 / 24.10.07
Really, there are very few lines that aren't dependent on how much one has pondered recently, including horses and rubber pants. Even if the horses are wearing them.

Keggers From The Crypt
06:41 / 24.10.07
"Hi, I have horses and rubber pants. Are you pondering what Im pondering?"

Deculture Decedent
06:57 / 24.10.07
"I am! (If you're buying.)"

See? It's less flawed than I had originally thought.

Keggers From The Crypt
06:59 / 24.10.07
Im just not sure whether the beauty of it lies in the pondering, the horses or the rubber pants.

Deculture Decedent
07:02 / 24.10.07
Requires further pondering, doesn't it? I think that might be the beauty. It always requires further pondering.

Keggers From The Crypt
07:33 / 24.10.07
I am on my last glass of ponderjuice. (unless I open my for special occasion only Black Currant bottle). This means that i will have to resort to box ponderjuice until the next batches are ready. Im already in mourning.

Deculture Decedent
07:38 / 24.10.07
I'm thinking I should have some protein beside my pondering, and lo, there is sausage in the fridge!

It's the small wonders in life.

Keggers From The Crypt
07:40 / 24.10.07
Is it?

Is it Really?

Yes. Yes it is.

(Great, now I have David Bowie's Littel Wonder running through my head)

Deculture Decedent
07:43 / 24.10.07
Which is better than having a curly-haired robot child in there, which is what's occupying mine now that I typed the words 'small and 'wonder' together.

Keggers From The Crypt
07:49 / 24.10.07
Ya see, that's the problem I have with real world conversations. People talk and I cant google things they say. Its so unnatural.

Keggers From The Crypt
07:51 / 24.10.07
OMG! I remember that show. I recall it as being rather crap.

Sigh, where's Alf when you need him?

Deculture Decedent
07:58 / 24.10.07
That was my little brother's favorite show when we were much younger. So we watched it a lot. I never got desensitized, unfortunately.

Keggers From The Crypt
08:00 / 24.10.07
They dont make shows like that anymore.. sigh

and speaking of shows, Boston Legal wasn't show tonight so 20/20 can have some special on the California Wildfires.

Deculture Decedent
08:05 / 24.10.07
I can't imagine there'd be anything educational or revelatory. Was there?

Stuff burns, Governor Arnie won't give the Fire Dept. folks everything they want, to they're not doing all they ostensibly could be. More stuff burns. A few victories and a few arsonists to add to things.

I'd really rather watch Boston Legal, which, due to being without a TV set much of the time now, I can't. Except on DVD, or through piratey interweb access. Still mildly emotionally crippled by my hospital-contained friend's vigorous 'You used to be Alan Shore, what the hell happened to you?' Inaccurate, surely, but still, it's like a call to arms.

Keggers From The Crypt
08:12 / 24.10.07
Sigh.. I was never Alan Shore. Well, maybe the Alan Shore that appears in the last 5 minutes, introspective, on the balcony drinking with friends.

yep, Lateshift very balcony-esque.

Deculture Decedent
08:23 / 24.10.07
It is very balcony-scene-esque.

But, really, there isn't much of a better schtick for ending episodes, is there?

Keggers From The Crypt
08:25 / 24.10.07
No. I cant say there is.

and on that appropriate note, I shall bid you adieu and go to bed.

Deculture Decedent
08:28 / 24.10.07
Night, Venger.

And, what, everybody else went out for a crazy Tuesday night on the town?

chirp chirp chirp chirp

Apparently?

Anybody awake? I have an apartment but no chocolate.

Deculture Decedent
05:46 / 25.10.07
I'm about. What I'm about is left to keener minds than mine, but about, yes.

Weird day. Weird early-morning/late-last-night work. I um wrote a TV-like show's credits sequence. Never done that before. At least, not at three in the morning.

But it's paying for dinner tonight, so that's alright.

ALL KINDS OF DEAD TREES

I had a panic attack, talked to the mother and the accomplice. Ducked phone calls from work because it's my one day off, and stared at the screen for a while. Wrote a few paragraphs, deleted them, made a stir fry.

AND NO CHOCOLATE.

Deculture Decedent
05:53 / 25.10.07
Isn't there a corner store still operating where you are? Emergency chocolate rations hidden under a loose floorboard or hollow in the drywall?

Hopefully the panic's over now. Or become fuel for something else.

(On the other hand, a completely unexpected new issue of CASANOVA is good for killing a panic attack, even if a comic book store nerd feels the need to Abbot & Costello his way through the "this ain't a lendin' library" routine just because I happened to be flipping through an Avengers comic to see whether it was worth my time).
