It's attention to the cinematography and the design that's really important, here - that and not deviating from what's a very clean, linear, simple story. Whole thing is pretty much a movie pitch anyway, so it should go ok, if the studio don't decide 'hey, let's make the rabbit a... Ninja Turtle!"

Well, the facts are that New Line acquired the property and hired Grant to write the screenplay, which was reported in legit sources (such as Variety). The screenplay is now apparently finished. It's a long way from actually being on cinema screens and obviously a million things could happen to fuck it up along the way, but it's definitely in development.

Cam, I know it's in development, dude, I'm just not holding out much hope that it's gonna get much further and even if it does I don't expect to see Grant's script appear unsullied on the screen.

I really don't want to get my hopes up, so being the downer guy is probably the most sensible strategy.

If we're talking a Sin City-esque shot-for-shot remake, which is easily doable, then I would hope that the violence isn't toned down. It's an essential part of the story in my view, to underline the trauma done to the animals and that, even though they are obviously the victims they have been made so thoroughly dangerous.

My excitement is showing through my trousers about a We3 movie though.

If this stuff is successful, I could very much see it lead to him as a director.

It's weird for me to think of Morrison as just a comic book artist, but the people in Hollywood probably do. Think of the Frank Miller example. Didn't Robert Rodriguez quit the DGA so he could get co-director credit on Sin City? Didn't that make mad cash?

Anyway, the precedent has been set.

And even though I feel like The Invisibles is basically in a class by itself, beyond just the medium of comic books, it's hard to imagine it represented any other way. Still, if Morrison gets that creative control, and say makes three 3-hour movies for each of the volumes... Well I guess I'd go and see them.

Here's hoping that We3 & Area 51 make money. Combine that with his Matrix stock and well... who knows?

What a shame! Looks like the guy who wrote National Treasure is going to be the one who does the screenplay for this one as well. That sucks.
