Well folks, today it's mostly been the B-side to "Stingray". But not the original version, the version as was sung by Phil Cool:

"MaaaaarIIIINaaaaaa....
Aqua MaaarIIIINaaaaaa...
What is that strange, enchanting smell of fish whenever you're neeeeeaar...?"

Interspersed with occasional snatches of the theme tune from "Casualty".

I need an earworm transplant.

Working nine-to-five, what a way to make a living...

If you ever want to get rid of an earbee, the theme tune to Jim'll Fix It will knock anything out and won't itself be retained. Try it, I swear it's true, by the time you get to '..and yoooo-ooo-oooh, bababah..' you will have forgotten what tune you were trying to replace.

My worst earworm? The themesong to The Littlest Hobbo. It can get stuck there for days.

There's a voice! Keeps on calling me!

Down the road! That's where I'll always be!

Every stop I make! I make a new friend!

Can't stay for long! Just turn around! And I'm gone again!

Is that it, Keggers? Is that the one?

Either he stole the narrator's fiancée away, or he stole the narrator's heart away such that no other suitor could ever compare. Either way, he's one hell of a loverman, that Cotton-Eyed Joe, and a personal hero of mine.

Alternatively, my brain pops up with odd mixes every now and then.

I can't explain otherwise why or how the words for Cry Me A River map onto the music for Daniel Powter's Bad Day.

Tell me you love me / why'd you leave me all alone...

Why? Tell me Why! Please!

Today at work I, for no reason I can think of, Patrick Swayze's "She's Like the Wind" stuck in my head for a couple of hours.

I wanted to cry.

That is a higly interesting earworm. Is it from reality as a whole or the subset of reality which is sometimes called "grantspace"? If latter, can I write a tune for it?

That wasn't too bad.

It could be worse. At a previous workplace, one of my workmates would always walk in and, the second he crossed the threshold, would have the song in his head going

When You Go! Will you send back... A letter, from America!

Which he just had to share.

I am really perplexed about the whole bumblebee tuna thing because bumblebees make honey, not tuna. Tuna comes from, well, tuna and is a fish not a bee, so HOW can there be bumblebee tuna? Tuna is not a product, it's a thing itself. I just don't understand it. And now I've got a song about a thing I don't understand and isn't possible, at least in my reality, stuck in my head. Have you any idea how annoying that is?

Oh. And now I have just realised after typing this that bumblebees don't make honey anyway, honeybees make honey.

Christing fuck.

Because I had a teacher who used that very jingle as a classroom example of the earworm phenomenon

That's because it's possibly the most perfect example of earworm ever created. It's one of the deadliest sonic viruses in the world.

And now it is here.

Yum! Yum!

And the love.

I am enlightened. And delighted! And disappointed that the tune already exists.

I thought it was going to turn out to be a 20 second industrial / death metal thing with one of those dirty long-haired chaps vomiting into a microphone to a backing track of many small, innocent creatures being ritually put to death with some dreadful instrument of torture. Mass torture, I suppose, like in mass production.

But I was wrong.

And, Olulabelle, that would have been a really, REALLY freaky song if it was just a freaky song. Much freakier than my imaginary death metal version.
