Invisibles Vol 3 No 1, signed by Grant Morrison to Richard Metzger, on eBay

Boy in a Suitcase
20:59 / 25.03.07
The final issue of Grant Morrison's epoch-making "Invisibles" comic series, Volume 3 Issue 1, the final transition into the supercontext... This issue is signed from series author Grant Morrison to Richard Metzger, founder of the Disinformation Company and author of Disinformation: The Interviews, The Book of Lies, and other modern occulture classics. Grant has written his inscription on the inside first page, reading: "To Richard: TIME IS IT? Grant Morrison" The comic was also previously in the possession of Jason Louv, editor of Generation Hex and Ultraculture Journal One, making this a postmodern occult artifact of high repute! The comic itself is NM and comes bagged & boarded.

I feel actually nauseous.

Is this, perhaps, due to giddiness at the thought of owning such a postmodern occult artifact of high repute?

I don't get it.
Is this a joke?
Repute is a funny word, i guess...

I presuming that would be the reason for buying it, Stoats.

I should dig up those old All-Canadian Comics I put together when I was all of eight-years-old & drunk on Alpha Flight, sign 'em, and put them on ebay.

No no it'll ship to UK too, just add like an extra $7 or something and I'll figure it out

Signing a comic and shipping it internationally just to find out the time? Fucker couldn't just buy a watch?

Okaaaay. Well, a bit of a dim view is took in these parts of threads started purely for the plugging of one's wares, but BiaS is a long-time member (certainly longer than me) with a record of meaningful engagment with the board. I'd like this thread to stand for those reasons.

However, it would be cool if we could retool this thread into something a bit more general. Perhaps a thread on the joys of collecting comics, what would make a particular item meaningful to you, how much you'd pay for it, etc.

The problem being that we've just had not one but two threads about comic collecting in a general way. They're still on the front page.

Boy in a Suitcase is a much longer-established and more prolific poster than I am, but I can't really see that as a reason not to dispatch this thread to the Phantom Zone where none of us need ever look at it again.

I didn't realize this was an advertisement thread right off the bat. I thought it was posted so we could collectively mock the description of the item on sale.

As it IS an advert, and since the creator of the auction is a long time member of the forum, I say it should be bahleeted to avoid people becoming annoyed with the advertising and to stem a lot of mockery.

I keep reading the summary as 'porno occult artifact' which leads to a definite wank-tool ambience in keeping which much of the series and fan-addict mentality, but really, someone should buy it and burn it.

And why is this for sale anyhow? You don't sell books people sign over to you. That's just rude. Unless it was for a good cause. Like, money or something.

And for Crom's sake, somebody tell Morrison what time it is! Metzger may not've ever got back to him, poor guy.

Again: buy it and burn it. Taterpleasure the ashes.

I'm confused. Does "previously in the possession of" add to or detract from value, and how it is proved without TEH SIGNAGE???
