That time again. That time when all my FaceScrabble partners have left for home. When I know there's noone out there gonna send me a funny email. When I'm still in my office at quarter to six on a Friday, sweating (heat has come to London at long fukken last) and cursing at the stacks of papers that I'm supposed to not only read but digest and understand and goddammned if I'm not obliged to use said digest and said understanding to analyse, expose and critique that codpiece Ulrich Beck's hypothesis which is popularly known as "the risk society". All in the light of a minor psychological theory of what constitutes common sense known as "social representations theory".

Now don't get me wrong. Normally I'd be jumping all kinds of hoops to get at the chance to actually be handed good wedges of money to do this kind of thing. But I've just had a somewhat unpleasant lunch with my SO. My finances are a shambles, or near enough. I'm behind with work. My hair sucks. I fear for the emergence of middle-age spread. All this moaning I'm doing reminds me of a show on BBC3 yesterday about the c-word. Yes, that word. I feel like applying said term to myself. But above all, I feel like a fucking drink. Who's with me? Gah.

Well, today my girlfriend came from home from work and admitted that yes, she's not in love with me any more and it's been that way for a long time now, and that she wants to deal with this before she starts to really hate me. So we talked about it for a while, discussed whether we should consider selling our house and going our separate ways, before we ordered a pizza, fired up an episode of Mystery Science Theater 3000 and a bottle of Sailor Jerry's, and had a better evening together than we've had in months. Funny how things work out.

Thanks for the VOC, Kali and Triplets, but maybe I should have been clearer - it wasn't any bolt from the blue. This has been coming for most of the last eighteen months, if not longer. It's only my dependable gutlessness that meant it was she, and not me, who pulled the plug.

To keep pace with the spirit of this thread, I'm presently on the delicious Boddington's and catching up with World War Hulk. As someone who gave the entirety of Civil War and what followed the swerve for no good reason other than Marvel-related ennui I'm enjoying it immensely. Simple comics are what my brain needs.

Chilli salt fried squid is my new favourite food, and I've never even tasted it. I have tasted all the components separately (including fried) but never in such a mouth watering combination.

Back on topic, I am drinking Glenmorangie again, as I heard a rumour that I may get a pay rise. This would take me into the top 90% of the population earnings wise, leaping ahead of children who get pocket money and dead people.

Went to thye beach today after the dentist and watched a bunch of kite surfers doing their thing. I feel sand, sun and salt blasted so the booze is going down well.
