Booze can be a beautiful thing, but not, alas, tonight, for me. Tomorrow, unfortunately, is most probably going to be a very, very painful day, and a hangover would make it - you can trust me on this - exponentially worse.

It's not a drinking game as such, but I'll be hitting the wine with some Nomination Whist tonight. I need to beat some people who beat me the night that I taught it to them. My plan for this is to add a bottle of wine to the beers that I had in the sun this afternoon. Foolproof.

St. Patrick's Day is also my last full day in this awful town and this awful way of living. Booze island will have a small crow of weeping students going through it's passage ways, like a crowd of mystic nuns performing rituals on the streets of Venice.

And I will be performing in a Hepburnathon, with a mask, boa and dress. There will be many of us, we will have martinis. And I will have taken some not-strictly legal medicine, so I might be hugging people too.

Maybe I'll stay until sunday and get to see the cleaners helplessly trying to clear the boulevard of broken bottles and green puke puddles.

I've just realized that if I slip and fall in the shower, the paramedics (or my friends, or the shower elves, pr Robert Goulet, or whoever finds me first) will discover me wet, naked, bloody, and clutching a bottle of Dos Equis premium lager.
