March Mix: Six-Word Story Soundtracks

I didn't do anything fancy with recording or mixing or anything because I haven't a clue how to, so everyone should please expect at least one to be just a poem and a song. I expect the ones that are all cleverly recorded will sound the best. It will be very hard to decide not to include the overall feel of each choice, I don't know if it will be possible to separate that out from the song/poem synthesis. It is a puzzle.

Haloquin
18:35 / 11.04.07
As another person who was unable to mix things (and I'm glad you played with them!) I'm keen on judging via how the synethesis itself actually works, but I'm pretty sure we can take into account that some of them were worked on and played with and that that does deserve credit, and if we each bear it in mind and make a decisionon all the different points that could be judged...

I guess I'm thinking about each person judging almost in a points system, something like,
up to 5 points for how its mixed,
20 for how the story and song complement each other,
10 for how they change each others meaning,

Or whatever percentage and criteria you think are important. I was thinking less for the mix because some of us just didn't have the equipment, but I think its still an important factor if someones done something special.

Its gonna be a tough call, but I'm sure we're all up to it... (crossing fingers and hoping I am!)

I am very, very excited!!!

I did do some work (to varying degrees) actually integrating song and story, too. Some tracks more than others, but there are only a couple of tracks that are literally story//song with no overlap whatsoever, usually due to some effects being applied to the story that just wouldn't mesh with the music.

OH! clappity clap clap! I can't wait!

Feverfew
(prev. GOOD MORNING ICHI -)
22:07 / 11.04.07
I second the clapping, because I was technologically challenged when it came to... Well, everything, really, when it came to this, from getting the song in, to sorting the s/w/s, and Mattshepherd has been a paragon of patience.

Riffing on Haloquin, then, I propose:

20 points: best/favourite 6-word story (because that's the point, really)
20 points: best story/song combo choice (obviously there'll be some judgement involved, but we're all smart smart people)
10 points: favourite song

...and your highest total/50 is your vote.

Prayerful Princess Petulant
16:38 / 16.04.07
I could do that.

Prayerful Princess Petulant
16:39 / 16.04.07
Although, that could mean that two songs could get the same score doesn't it? So you'd still be stuck.

That's when you dig deep and go with your gut BROCK SAMSON STYLE.

! England before USA. That surprises me.

Olulabelle
15:50 / 20.04.07
I do not have it. Wales before England it seems.

Prayerful Princess Petulant
20:35 / 20.04.07
Nah, I'm back in England again. It must be Midlands first.

MattShepherd: LARGELY ABSENT!

Quarter Circle and Haloquin are in Wales, IIRC. No word from either.

The Stolen Llama
20:47 / 20.04.07
Got it this morning, but didn't find out that it had arrived til now. I'm listening to it now and there some wonderful tracks and stories on here. I cringe upon hearing my own, but as that was the desired effect, huzzah!

The Stolen Llama

Oh it's so good! I'm so proud to be a part of it. The stories are really excellent, can I say what my favourites are? I'll just say I like the survivors one and the dolls one, because they're actually stories.

It's wicked to hear everyone's voices and matt you've done a really terrific job putting it all together.

Thank you everyone for this excellent thing.

I got mine! looking forward to listening to it.

And I'm digging the six word title.

The Stolen Llama
22:09 / 21.04.07
I love the dolls one too, the creepy toybox music that follows it so great.

The best song on the CD though, has to be O' Buddy. It was in my head all day at work today, and I definitely have to get my hands on the band's releases.

Dazzler
21:11 / 22.04.07
we've literally just gotten back from The Evangelion Weekender to find these gorgeous things waiting for us, really good work on this one Matt.

Ripping now, will report back. Of course, now the shame and embarrasment at my pick is quite tangible .
