But I mean...surely you don't need to make an especial study of history to get a general idea of who Winston Churchill was. I mean, he's part of the national consciousness...I mean, I'm not expecting her to know he was a twat to the suffragettes or that he wrote articles about there being a worldwide Jewish conspiracy or that he was once buggered by Ivor Novello or anything, but surely she should at least have some vague notion of him being a rotund British chap with a funny voice who was something to do with the war? Apparently not.
If I was in there, I would just shit her up about history all the time. 'Yeah, so, Hereward the Wake, he ran the English resistance when the country was invaded by the Nazis...then Henry VIII formed the Knights Templar and beat them off...and Hitler was strangled in his bunker by Clint Eastwood...' |
