My colleague said it! So I donīt believe it.

Salma Hayek and Monica Belucci, as well as Brad Pitt and Johnny Depp all are 40 and +. So my colleague could only be talking about her own experiences. Anyway, my 40 is way beyond 2012, so no need to worry yet, even if I would.

Now, Stoatie, you adorable man, that's irredeemably defeatist! I might have posted exactly the same at that point in my life. You have to be prepared to take the risks and see what flows therefrom. I haven't snapped up the One For You. Only you can make that decision.

I remember my best friend and I deciding very firmly that we would bever fall in love again when we were in our late thirties. I met Ganesh. She met a murderer out on license, with a personaiity disorder, who ruined her life. A shag without any complications is a definite plus.

Have you actually asked me if I have a police record, Xoc? No, you have not. There's a lesson there. Probably.

I have it on good authority that he owns "Walking On The Moon", Xoc. That's not even a particularly good Police record.

Happy birthday, DM.

At 29 I was very beset by 'what am I doing with my life' thinking a world-class judgement was coming by... but it all came to naught. I recall thoughts of a Logan's Run party... and then I forgot it all and had Chinese with my best mates. It was a pretty awesome time and perhaps the last time they were all together.

I'd buy you a glass of Chimay (blue) if I were in your area... then be understanding while you puked.

Tt. The obligatory "Police record" joke.

I hope your legs (don't) break, Stoatie.

I can't let it lie any longer.

The Logan's Run references, I mean.

In the Nolan and Johnson novel (which was ACE), rather than the inferior film treatment (which I still love, though it probably has more to do with the fact that I was about 12 when I first saw it and on-screen nudity was still something of a novelty), Lastday occurred on one's 21st, rather than 30th, birthday.

Sorry, DM, but you'd have been dead for nine years, now. Mind you, I'd have been long gone by the time your crystal started blinking, so there you go.

Tt. The obligatory "Police record" joke.

Yeah, but, as you say, it was obligatory. I made it, I SACRIFICED MY VERY INTEGRITY, DAMMIT!!!, so nobody else had to.

Somebody buy me a pint.

Shall we talk about what it means to turn thirty in general?

It was so long ago I can hardly remember, but just before my great-nephew was carted off into rehab the last time, I seem to recall him shouting about the realisation he'd come to, recently, which was that he was 'a bloke.' That was all, he was simply 'a normal bloke.' Nothing fancy. That he was into football, DIY and making an honest woman out of a lady he referred to as 'some poor dupe' that he was planning on cornering by the office coffee machine, while sober, and the lights seem to go out in his little eyes as the gurney swept him away, after he said that. I saw him one time after this, and he was reading a novel by Tony Parsons, his whole body convulsed by sobs ... Alex is never going to leave The Priory now, and I can't say I blame him. He would have to go to Ikea, possibly. He would possibly have to go to Ikea.

I don't think Alex is up to the self-assembly demands of Ikea.

Fuck yeah! I'm not even twenty-five yet. I have all the time in the world, suckers! Old man time hasn't got shit on me, I--uh... crap, nevermind, it's all an act...

Really, I'm dreading turning twenty-five. I know it's silly. I'll never make it to thirty, and if I do I'll spend my birthday making evil pacts with fell gods of the night for eternal youth. But who knows, maybe that's how DM spent his.

Anyway, happy birthday DM! I'm sorry someone had to go and give you flak on your birthday in your own damn birthday thread. That's why I'll never post a birthday thread, all I need is someone to ask "so, you're twenty five! Got your degree yet, loser?" and I'll burst into tears.

Wow, Falconator.

You're old!

Alright, you're not that much older than me. I'm also afraid of 25, but I have a while to go before it's really a pressing issue, I'm afraid.

Happy birthday, DM*.

*It's not an afterthought, it's just the (second) last sentence in the message.

I'm glad to see so many Barbeheads are with me, in their 30s. Having a '3' in your age is the new polyethylene catsuit (or whatever the latest 'black' is). I think I might go read the 'Gives me a happy' thread for a while.

DM, welcome to the first hangover of your 30s. It will not be the worst one, if that's any comfort...

I slept through my entire first 30+ hangover.

No pics. There are het people flirting in them, and tham migh offend/bore the 'lithians. Besides, I'm not sure I actually want to share my happy moments with Barbelith right now.

(also, I can take people badmouthing me ad nauseum, but if someone says something about my family and/or friends, we'll find ourselves with 86 pages of gruesome name-calling)

I moved for this thread to be locked now. Please do not post in it.

Just in case it gives you any hope, DM, I feel I should mention that I turned 30 last year (I recently finally got round to developing the photos of my party, so it's been on my mind anyway) and my life's been brilliant ever since. I mean, it was good before but it's been even better since. So, you know ...just slinging my tuppenceworth in the optimistic scale.

Oh, and Stoatie? Yes, you were dressed as a pirate. We all were.

Blimey, have I really known you for over five years? Coo!
