Just for curiousity's sake, what are your opinions on what is perhaps the worst retcon ever i.e. Xorn = Collective in New Avengers?

I just wish Xorn stayed Xorn, and never made the leap to Magneto/dupe or wtf he was. It was an interesting character until he became Magneto on smack. Everything since just been fluff.

I think Marvel (as a vast self-aware corporate organism) might be trying to show us all how Patsy Cockrum felt with the Xorn/Mags reveal first happened.

Xorn was designed to be cool, to stick in deep and fast like a hot knife in a block of jaded fatbeardy butter, and then twist and sting like a bastard.

Apparently, Xorn was capable of doing this to the X-Men, once (by revealing himself as Magneto), but to readers? To readers, to fans, Xorn can apparently keep doing the trick to the end of time.

Next week he'll be Wolverine. Or Night Nurse. Or Wolverine'll remember he used to be Night Nurse.

Yeah, there is slightly sick, twisted weird part of me that absolutely loves how ridiculous all the stuff with Xorn is getting. I don’t know whether it’s been deliberate on the part anyone after Grimsby Marmoset but the whole thing is becoming a brilliant spoof of the conventions of comic book identity reveals, like the next evolutionary level of al the shit that went on with Hobgoblin, throw into fast forward.

Well, he would've gotten away with it, if it hadn't have been for those meddling kids, so of course, a few extra reveals are called for.

Xorn needs a themepark haunted by robots, like the X-Men need a guest appearance by Don Knotts.

I think this is awesome. Xorn's origin was a simple, straightforward story, which Marvel willingly published, but then they immediately set about coming up with ridiculous convoluted reasons, which defy all logic, for why that story was not actually the way it seemed. It's beautiful, in its own way. I look forward to more of it.

What exactly is it that Marvel's done again?

Well, you could always fix it making Xorn the son of Earth-2's Superman and Lois, and brother of Power Girl; only that he landed in the Marvel Universe.

I'm waiting for the Space Phantom to reveal that Xorn is actually Impossible Man in a way to explain how everyone has forgotten that Peter Parker is Spider-Man.

Oh, you laugh...but mark my words, it's the crossover plot for 2008.
