I'm going to be in the area of Ringwood New Forest Hampshire from July 28 (Friday) until July 30th (sunday) then in London on Monday the 31st.

Iffin' any folks are free on Monday in London on the 31st, I would be delighted to meet you, drink with you, and possibly laugh hysterically with you.

Yeah sure. A central London pub venue okay? Anyone think of one where we can sit outside if the weather's nice?

Oh duh. Misread the date. I'm going to be on holiday then, so afraid I'll miss you.

Natural you'll be on holiday...sigh.

Ah well you'll just have to tell me when you're on my side of the ocean!

I think I'll be around. Is the 31st a Thursday? hmmmm. Nope, a Monday. Might be possible then. Will give it a good go to be there.

Illmatic, you're breaking my heart to pieces that you'll be on holiday! You'll have to designate a proxy.

Anna, DDP, I'd be most honored to meet you.

Illmatic: SO CLOSE, YET SO FAR!!!!!

Stoatish One: If you will be attending I shall bring you a crazed alpaca knitting experiment.

I think I'll be around for this. Mondays are generally good.

A central London pub venue okay? Anyone think of one where we can sit outside if the weather's nice?

If we're expecting a reasonable turn out, might I suggest The Green Man & French Horn? It's central and well placed for tubes, buses and trains; there is some scope for outdoor drinking and it's comfortably accommodated more than a dozen of us in the past.
It's also directly opposite The Salisbury which has more outdoor seating if that becomes a bigger priority than indoor space.

I live in Southampton, which is a mere stones throw from Ringwood. I can't make the London meet, but let me know if you've got time to meet up in Hampshire.

Seth I would love to meet you in the wee town of Burley if that is possible as I will be without a vehicle. Tiny teenie barbemeet of two!

Erm, hello all.

For those that do remember my somewhat sporadic posting favourably, I'm also going to be in the UK that month (the whole month actually). I hope you wouldn't mind too terribly if I horned in as it were.

I know I have not presented as vibrantly comprehensible a personality as most on this board but I've long wanted to meet a few of you in meatspace where I'm generally a much more lucid and enjoyable person anyway. Never could quite get the hang of how communication works here which is why I fall back on lurking so often.

Exhortations to piss off are welcome and readily anticipated.

Burley sounds good. When are you free to meet up?

Oh please not Covent Garden, it's a place only for tourists to go and there's no good reason why honest Londoners such as we should go there.

What's the pub we sometimes go to round the corner from London Bridge? The bar is packed but at least we can sit outside on the kerb.

I'll be up for this. The Plough sounds mighty fine to me.

Thats The George, Lady. Also a good choice.

I think the Plough was suggested as it's close to Atlantis and the BM and has all sorts of cool history for the visiting Temple type.

The Plough or the George sound good. If the weather is nice, then definitely The George as open air drinking space beats occult history hands down in my book. Also, The George itself has some interesting occult history to it... Or if it hasn't, I could easily just make something up and XK would be none the wiser. I hear John Dee used to drop by the George for a swift half on a friday night before conjuring Enochian Angels. He really liked the beer garden as well.

Rex Feral
18:55 / 04.07.06
The George could in fact be the venue for making occult history. Or yet another case of too much Stella and drunken freeform sparring... oh wait, I won't be there. I'm sure you can find someone else, Gypsy.

Quantum of Solace

Let's decide closer to the time when we know the weather. Oh BTW the George was in fact named after George Morrison and I heard it's built on an old Templar's tomb and is actually a docking station for the five dimensional squids designed by Imhotep himself as a favour for the freemasons, so it's a fine alternate.

Here's a handy identifying pub sign for the George:

Word has it that Crowley was barred from teh George for excessive farting at the bar and for playing "freckles" in the back room with Mathers & the gang. Will do my best to make it.

Depending on where xk's staying, what about the Abbey Tavern in Kentish Town? Nice drinks, food, lots of space and a lovely large pub garden and terrace for good weather.

my london couch location is "a mile from wimbledon station".

I think it's like a mail drop, I'm not supposed to know the details until I get there.

Oh Christ, Wimbledon's deep South of the river - might be a bugger for you to come too far into the centre.

A pub near Waterloo would almost certainly be the best one for you, as there are direct trains from Wimbledon. Anyone know a good one?

If the weather's good, then outside the NFT Film Cafe is always very... atmospheric. Good for feeling "I'm in London!"

XK

Well in truth I'm ending up South of the river but starting at the British Museum. (doesn't everyone?)

I'm taking a bus in from New Forest Monday AM into London probably take my ass to the BM and stagger around looking at the lovelies then stagger off to find you lovelies.

My gentle hosts will probably come collect my bad self from where ever or make me take a cab to them. I suspect they'll want to come join in the festive what-have-yous to meet your fine selves....

Honestly I have Monday the 31st to do whatever I wish in London and mostly I wish to spend time with you, dear Barbelith. So feel free to make suggestions.
