Just to clarify, the process is still as was, yeah? Only I've not been keeping up (sorry) and have just referred a couple folk to the e-mail address on the wiki. I will vouch for them as and when, also.

I think there are some things going on behind the scenes that would change the process, but I think from the perspective of someone wanting to join the board, their initial process and the basic requirements remain pretty much the same.

I've never replied to a post by our Mr. Coates. Maybe my primary screener Nina can explein how not to apply, and how-possibly- persistence might prevail.

I'm sorry? I don't know what that means.

I don't think you're meant to, Tom.

I will attempt to apply my Dedi/Barbelith dictionary.

Dedi's post follows one by TC. He's not really replying, in our limited Earth definition of the word, but never mind.

He then suggests that as someone closely involved with the apps process, Nina might be able to tell people the kinds of things that would make the reviewers think twice about okaying an application. This seems odd, since all the reveiwers have ever looked for is evidence that the applicant is a) human and b) not one of our very very small set of permenantly banned individuals, but never mind. Not sure why Nina, either, but never mind.

He then suggests that all that is required here is patience on the part of prospective members. Not sure that's the solution, really, but... well, never mind.

Do you actually get contacted for a referral?

I've told like 20 people that they can use me as a referral and I've yet to be contacted. Although, in all fairness, maybe none of them registered.

I got contacted when the Tiny Emobuckling tried to apply.

Not sure why that's not gone through. Not particularly bothered as he's grating my glans atm, buy yeah, you get contacted.

Tell them to expect the 3am knock at the window from a small wingèd creature which speaks in ultrasonic tones.

Oh, they didn't hear it the other night? Well, there you go.

(The alternate version of this is that the good volunteers who are handling the applications process are apparently quite snowed under, of course, both with admissions and real lives. Someone I vouched for certainly got in reasonably soon after I was asked to verify their email address and identity)

Well, actually, the volunteer process has kind of collapsed - right now the applications system is, I think, me. I make lists and send them to Tom. I honestly don't know why people are not getting added if they are on those lists - it's possible that some names have been mislaid, or some people's email accounts have rejected the password emails as spam (always check your spam filter...). I'm afraid that, if you have not been accepted and have a known Barbelith member to vouch for you, the best way to deal with it is probably to reapply, and to get that Barbelith member to PM me confirming that you do know them and have not just picked their name out of a hat. If you have a work or institutional email address, you don't even need the endorsement.
