Due to my own idoicy I've still got to hunt down a ticket, but HOPE to see you there...

Erk! Good luck getting a ticket Riz.

Yeah, I'm revvin' up for tonight too. Albeit in a more relaxed, slacking off at work manner, looking at GW vids on You Tube.

What time are The Kidz getting there...?

Stoatie. Stoatie? STOATIE.

I'd imagine we'll probably be there around 7:30, 8ish. Hellbunny and (I think) Seth are coming too!

The asses of several snow leopards were known to have been rocked last night... Audience participation (Jim, can you fix it for me to play guitar with Guitar Wolf?), human pyramid building, Sex Napoleon... Just a great, good-natured rockin' time.

Annoyed I missed the very start, but knew all would be well when they yelled "Jet Generation!" just as I was walking in...

And, like Tango-Mango observed, you can really smell the sweat these days now there's no smoke to mask it...

Damn that was fun. Really good to see so many Lithwolfs there - I counted up to eleven, but it could have been more. There are pictures.

The gig itself was fantastic, with all the sweat-drenched, hair-combing, leather-clad, guitar-biting, pyramid-forming, beer-drinking Jett Rock'n'roll a band could ever be and do.

The very first thing GW did was to drink a bottle of beer in one go.
And how could I forget to mention Sex Napoleon - a moment of surreal oddness to savour, especially for the total non-resemblance of the man with the sign to a dead French emperor. Or that Guitar Wolf made his way through the audience on a very long lead to play from on top of the bar. Now that's very rock.

The very first thing GW did was to drink a bottle of beer in one go.

That bottle is now sitting two feet to the right of my computer as I type.

That was the best gig I've seen in fucking ages. And I have many fucking awesome photos, I'll post a link when I'm finished with them.

My favourite moment (besides Nom getting crushed on the second level of the human pyramid): Guitar Wolf reaching across and turning all the levels on his amp up full.

Pretty sure there were a few more than eleven 'Lithers there too. From the Hamptoner (plus one ex-Hamptoner-now-Londoner) contingent we had Hellbunny, A Bigger Boat, _pin, bandini and myself. Also present was that Mysterious Transfer Dude.

Seth you are such a fanboy!
Sorry we didn't see you after, we hauled ass pretty quickly back on the tube. I am very tired and aching at work right now.
But shit they were good - pure fun.

THE BEST BAND EVER.

And I'm still drunk.

Fuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuck that ruled.

THIS IS A GUITAR WOLF SANDWICH. IT IS MADE OF AWESOME, WIN AND GOOD.

I really should have gone over instead of seeing the Flaming Lips.
Balls!

Wow, that looks like that was a pretty amazing bunch of fun all round then (well, duh..); have been kicking myself continuously for the past few days for managing to miss this.

Great photos Seth!

Pity about the two chaps in the playing-on-the-bar shot looking like they're discussing cricket or something as GW gets wild a few inches above them, but there we go...

You see that circle that's forming above Guitar Wolf's fretboard in the shot where's he's playing on the bar? That's him about to fire a Cero, that is.

The fucking fantastic thing about Guitar Wolf is that whether they're actually, you know, any good is utterly, utterly irrelevant. Really, if you spend any amount of time actually talking about their music then you've completely missed the point. But paradoxically they're also not about style over substance - there's nothing that's artificially mannered about them, somehow through sheer discipline and attention to detail they have become the anthropomorphic personification of rock'n'roll, transcending all elements that a lesser band would just serve up as pastiche.

STRONG TRUTH!

(which could really be a title of a GW song; Stoatie - that gives me an idea...)

Would it be awfully bad form were I to change my suit name, next time the opportunity presents itself, to SEX NAPOLEON?

The only reason I'm not crying with jealousy right now is that I've convinced myself that this is a joke. Nothing this amazing could exist outside of a cartoon.

Sorry to break it to you, dude, but it's real. The world is an infinitely more wonderful place than we can imagine. For all its many faults, let's not forget that this world has Guitar Wolf in it, and that counts for a lot.

SEX NAPOLEON - SAVED BY A WOLF: is that too long a suit name?

EVERYTHING IS A CRUEL JOKE, STOATIE. NO OFFENCE BUT I REFUSE TO BELIEVE YOU AREN'T LYING. (Capitalised for emphasis.)

Erm. OK, the whole gig was a washout, and they were really, really dull. The three of them just stood there like lemons, strummed their guitars a bit and ponced around on the drunkit, and even got some of the audience to play instead because they were that bad. Guitar Wolf? Guitar Sheep, more like!

(Lies, all of the above, apart from the bit about the bloke from the audience, but does that make it any better?)

That sounds awful, I'm actually ashamed the barbelither's would pay to see that shit

Who said I paid?

(I did, actually. Ten of the best quid ever spent. The booking fee wasn't even a waste, really.)

The pic of GW rocking out on the bar... if you look to the right, you can a can of Red Stripe being held up. That is me. My other hand, just out of shot, is flicking the horns.

JETT ROCK N' ROLLLLLLLLL!

My favourite moment (besides Nom getting crushed on the second level of the human pyramid)

I am sad I did not go. Out of interest, will there ever be a Gogol Bordello/Guitarwolf gig? And why wasn't Lord Nuneaton Savage there? He must be crying as we speak.

Stoatie. Stoatie? STOATIE.
15:24 / 07.07.07
Fuck it, I DID go and I'm still sad because it means they probably won't play here again for ages.

Tears.

I missed them in Brighton too.

And again.

Tears.

They played in Brighton as well?

Well, in that case, I missed 'em there too. I'd have liked to have seen them twice this time round.

Only if your new lady friend is called Glenda Watkins or similar, so you have a back up plan.

It's just a logo. No words.

Mon Oncle Ignatius
21:09 / 07.07.07
Yeah, go on. As long as you also get, say, a Manowar tattoo, just so you've got a rubbish one to offset all the cool bands' logos imprinted on yr skin.

Stoatie. Stoatie? STOATIE.
02:07 / 08.07.07
I've staked out a plot already. I can almost see it there now when I look at my own skin.

And that's a weird feeling.
