2 quick newbie questions

hi all

1. apparently all posts' timestamps are displayed in Central European Time rather than the Greenwich Mean Time i would have expected from a london-born site. is that intentional? or is the daylight saving setting stuck?

2. i note some people post their creative work in the "Creation" forum for discussion and review. what's the policy on that? or rather: protocol/standard behaviour. i'd like to put a couple of pieces up for people to poke at, but don't want to offend. i've already annoyed a couple of people by misreading a thread's purpose and not being aware of another specific thread set up for the purpose i'd assumed.

I'm an old woman, Saltation, and I often get the wrong end of the stick about things, but my understanding of the creation is that it's perfectly okay to post your own creative work there, so long as you're prepared not to get too upset when people - in an entirely constructive and reasonable way, of course - tell you why it's shit.

If it is shit, that is. It might not be, of course!

1) It's not intentional. It's supposed to be UK time (whatever that is - GMT or BST, I've never been able to remember them) but it was set incorrectly originally and just got left like that. For the majority of the year, it's one hour forwards of UK time.

2) Do it. The only major point of etiquette that I'm aware of is that you're prepared to accept valid criticism.

1/ oh. guess i'll have to get used to it.

2/ brill, thanks all. i promise not to come crying to you if i get torn to pieces.

The other side of the creation policy coin is that people are expected to provide constructive criticism, of course.

Weird. I live in that time zone. And all the posts I ever saw on Barbelith have Greenwich time.

It's simple. Barbelith runs on Barbelith Time, which is always different to wherever you are.

It's a bit like Narnian time. Don't worry or question it.

Don't worry it?

Barbelith's a sheep and we're the dogs?

(tangent- if you think THAT'S confusing, try arranging to meet about twenty people for a raid in WoW tomorrow night when they're all in different time zones and the game server's on Barbelith time. If I turn up and there's nobody there my ass is SO pwned).

It could be an ambush. I know a lot of Barbeloids remember their induction and want to catch Stoatie unawares and pwn his ass. With candles.

I knew those Night Elf-brand leather trousers were a worthwhile purchase.

Barbelith is the sheeple,
We are the doggerel.

And it's all relative to the size of your sheeple, naturally.
