Which is to say; how did the people on your literature course react when confronted by the sort of strong male energy that seems to be a big part of your writing, on a reasonably frequent (twice a semester, I'm guessing,) basis? And how did you, in return, respond to their comments?

I would like my writings to be read and appreciated by as many people as possible. The blessing (and curse) of the interweb is that I have the ability to post my writings for all to read without them having undergone editing by another person. I can post them as I intend them to be read.

This isn't something I do commonly however. I would quite like to have one of my stories published as a novel someday. So I have to take into account the tastes of the public who will be reading my stories. In truth I was considering posting the first page or so of my story on here for a bit of unbiased criticism. But I'm having second thoughts now. Not because the criticism is unfair (on the whole I found the comments about your writing to be perfectly constructive), but because I know I can get a bit shirty about any criticism.

I've read the two threads that began with your stories here on Creation, and IMO none of the teasing has had any indication of being racially motivated (Barbelith is very good at self-policing on this kind of thing). You argue in a very bombastic and eratic manner which means that people are likely to respond in kind (alternatively lethally precise and cutting). I won't ask you to tone it down, because it's obvious you don't want to compromise (and you're probably drowning under those requests).

Might I suggest though, that when you post stories you perhaps don't ask for people's opinion on them. I think at this stage you will still get some. But if you don't feel that any PoV about your work is relevant except for yours then why post them in a forum which encourages such a thing?

Those MSN Spaces are pretty handy for displaying your stories to the world without getting any comments back.

Still, your choice.
