Dabh is also the first (at least that's my understanding) Barbelith group servitor.

We were talking about actually creating a servitor and Wyrd took the lead in designing him. Last May or June we birthed him with a sigil based group ritual.

His main function is to facilitate communication, relationships, and the ability to work with other board members and the board in general.

As Grant posted above, Wyrd can give you more particulars.

In a way, we started off small. We didn't try to change the world or make a wish granter. But it's pretty cool how much action oriented stuff has gone on in the Magick since he's been around.

I think Dabh's been pretty well described by the others. He's a non-intrusive dapper bloke, who's good at making introductions and is fond of socialising, especially over some civilised drinks. Chin chin!

Meant to post this in a thread earlier. I was at a friends wedding on the 13th. I had a had few drinks when this guy comes up to me and says "You havent been around for a while and Ive been looking". I thought this strange since I havent been in that hall before. So I turn to look and no one is around me. Not in talking distance or anything. So I decide to start my vodka martinis stretch ( a drink I used when I first met him)
I saw a guy in a white tux as I was headed out to the car but that was it. (NO ONe at the wedding was wearing a white tux)

Had an odd conversation with him last night. Offered to help him with facilitating the community here but he politely declined, although there was an undercurrent of urgency and distraction. He said he'd ask for help later, and I got a flash of random words on a computer screen, but that was it.

Rightio folks, here's the lowdown about Dabh.

Dabh was designed by me, and anyone who wanted to be involved with his launch and activation had to request the information and sigil from me directly. Surprisingly few people from the board actually bothered to email me personally for the information - that small effort was all that was necessary for to be involved with the activation of the servitor.

Dabh has been fully operational ever since. His main job is to facilitate connections between Barbelithers, especially in dreams, and to generally aid in a sense of easy communication. He acts like a host at a party so of course he's discrete, affable, amusing, and sincere.

When the initial idea of a servitor design was being mooted, a couple of people (expressionless was one for example) didn't want to be involved with Dabh "without consent" so that's why the sigil was never posted publicly and the servitor was designed to only work with those Barbelithers who expressly wished to do so.

The sigil is not necessary to contact Dabh. You only need to have a honest and sincere desire to communicate with him. If that's the case, then put that intent out there. For example, try doing some meditation on the subject, or perhaps write down your wish to work with him on a piece of paper and leave it under your pillow at night. He works subtly, and gently. As long as you put in some decent effort and have the right intentions then you should run into the old boy eventually.

There's no point in me describing Dabh, because he will appear to you as you expect him to appear - though thinking of him as a host at a party who knows everyone and everything that's going on is a good first step. He's a dapper fellow, and like to chat to those who have something interesting to say.

I'll do my best to ask answer any questions if there are some...

Okay, I would like to meet hir. I am having an amazing visitational interference during dreams (in direct relation to my innocent workings) that are anything but discrete, affable, amusing and sincere (I guess the chaps can't do any better after all), so from what you describe I do not think Dabh is much involved.

I'll be there at the party then to refresh for a while, and, Wyrd, I would like to have the sigil, 'cause its much likely I'll use a print of it for the practical thing. If you consider appropriate, please e-mail it to me, I'll be sending an email to which you will be able to reply.

Y'know, I'd still love to build that online spirit house that gives a home to all the lost and forgotten servitors created on internet message boards, whose creators have moved onto other things and left them dissused and abandoned in cyberspace. Has anyone taken the responsibility for this thing,or does it just float about whatever?Will it be put to rest when appropriate,or left in limbo ad infinitum.Does it have that particular job,or just is available for use by anyone who signs up to Barbelith.I created a sevitor as part of a group ritual,daresay the rest of them forgot about it a long time ago,but I have the physical host under lock and key and the thing is on record should I get run over by a bus tomorrow so as someone else can deal with it.
There is a real danger of these things being left lying about to cause mischeif by their lazy and forgettful creators.

Well, as far as I know, Dabh is Barbelith-specific. That is, as long as there are guests in the salon, he's there to help ease things along. He was activated by the energization (is that a word?) of a sigil, but now that's done and he just sort of hangs around the board, keeping things running.

This is fascinating! I was referred to this thread because I've made just bizzarely large connections in my spiritual work because of the different conversations threads here have had me pondering.

But I think I'm not ready to contact this entity/construct/ally yet. I'm very slow to connect to a group identity, which is something I have only come to understand as a concept in the last couple years...
