Mister Six, whom all the girls
20:06 / 11.11.05
When I lived in Cambridge, MA I used to take off early, go to the comic shop by the Hynes ICA and grab a beer (and perhaps their chocolate pecan piwe which was so good I wanted to put down the front of my pants) at the Other Side... I miss those days.

Damn good play, though. Now I'm apparently off to a party a few doors up the road in an hour or so, which I really can't be arsed to go to. But I just got a text message from the guy saying everyone had cancelled so he needs SOMEBODY to turn up... I think I'll go for like one beer then come home and go to bed.

(Funnily enough, lilly, while I was typing this post the guy I went to the theatre with phoned and said "hey, that place was full of ponces. You should have done some intellidating". So NER.)

What is NER? Did he do any intellidating? What a funny funny idea.

Um, no, he didn't. (NER as in "ner-ner-ne-ner-ner").

Free booze and uncomfortable socialising with work contemporaries? Or an enjoyable night with like-minded raconteurs?

That sounds like it should go in the Thing vs another Thing thread...

But in this case, it was free booze and food in an enjoyable afternoon turning into an evening at the pub in Camden with like-minded raconteurs, then home for a very early night (in bed and sound asleep by 9pm).

Um, no, he didn't. (NER as in "ner-ner-ne-ner-ner").

Is Jo-Boy the new name for your friend? Why isn't he on Barbelith yet? I'm sure his opinion on intellidating would be amusing to read at the very least.

And at least you weren't referring to the NER which is(was?) New European Records...

bored working. Come in for a piddly 3 hours and not quite had enough sleep. Good thing though, is I finally bought a mattress for my new flat, so no more camping on the air bed. Come sweet sleep. England football on the telly later amd an evening of trying to fit all my possessions around the new bed.

Looks good and I've never seen it before. Both plays in one compendium. Saw David Farr's fabulous Julius Caesar recently, so am tempted to get along this week. He also did The Government Inspector though and that was crap. Hmmm, decisions decisions...

I'd never seen it before- it was excellent, though. I'd recommend it. Although it has filled me with a sense of failure in that I really should have conquered at least a few countries by my age...

Cool. I'm convinced. Have got tickets for next weekend. On your advice, I will take a jotter to note down tips on how to conquer the known world before I get any older. I should be Queen Mother at least.

Yes, do go and see it- there was one minor detail of the staging which I thought was significant, and the guy I went with didn't, so I'd like to see if you thought the same thing as me or not!

Could be worse ES, it could be vending machine tea.
I think we ought to push for a return of the proper tea break, perhaps even someone coming round with a trolley with cakes on.

... a return of the proper tea break, perhaps even someone coming round with a trolley with cakes on.

I second that motion. They would of course have to be nice cakes too. An an urn of tea, with the concession to modern office living being a percolator of fine Colombian coffee.

Hello, everyone. You've caught me as I'm being insanely grateful to builders for finally turning up (not on any of the days they were SUPPOSED to, mind).

Awright, Stoatie! Good to hear.

While I'd normally join the rising chorus of good coffee demands, I find I cannot today. The crappy coffee here is the only thing keeping me alert and engaged in the task of setting up this catalog index.

Well, almost.

That damn vessel is leaking. Drip bloody drip. Sterility Test Media dribbling out into a bucket and all I can do is make sacrifice to the dark gods of science that no curious bacteria decide to swim up into vessel and indulge in a bit of the old exponential growth.

But that's all I've got to do today. Home at half-three. Can't be bothered with the gym tonight. Think I shall indulge the impulse-areas of my brain and watch a terrible sci-fi movie of some kind. Ah, Doom ought to suffice.

Sing me a song, oh wonderful Barbelith. A song to rouse my inner barbarian!

Ahem..... "we come from the land of ice and snow, on the midnight sun where the hot springs blow. The hammer of the gods, will drive our ships to new lands".... No, sorry I can't do it: my singing voice is awful.
I'm not at work today, I am packing up to head back to the ancestral manse for the holiday season, and I can't decide whether I'm looking forward to it or not. In the mean time I am packing my mp3 player with musical goodness to sustain me on my long journey.

A smashing bit of imagery there, Evil. Was it formulated as an appetite suppressant, or is that just a side effect?

Nah, it's used to check the dark, sterile interiors of our production vessels. It's basically gumbo for micro-organisms. They love a bit of it.

Hopefully none of the buggers get in through this little gap. Or there'll be trouble.

Of the 5th kind!

bored. working. Xmas party last night. free wine. bleh today.

But I did buy two copies of Macready's new comic Christmas with Frank which is ace, he's providing several crimbo presents this year for my friends- ta Macready!

Must play cities to clear my head and avoid work. Or maybe I'll go and start a fight in the Temple... I feel like I need to curl up in the womblike interior of one of your production vessels ES, and whimper quietly. Where's that hangover thread?

I'll start up a culture cycle. 37 degree C temperature and no light ought to give you a relaxing womb-like environment.

A metal womb with a dirty great propeller-like agitator on one side that I'll periodically switch onto 275rpm. But still...

I'm working a little I'm back in the main office and I have a cold and it's the works night out tonight - thankfully I'm on-call so I've got an excuse not to get wasted...

I need my bed, I've I'd been here a little longer I would have had a sick day - bit soon for that.
