Saturday November 5th: FIREWORKS A-GO-GO!

Who wants to watch fireworks with me? Is anyone going to any displays in London? And where are they all this year?

My getting down to Lewes and back is seeming less and less likely- so Londony fireworks could be good.

(And despite what anyone may have told you, I don't always shout lines from Vietnam movies at firework displays. Just when they're actually going off.)

Yes, this year's alck of vikings and pirates parading around with torches really stinks, we should definitely try to watch stuff explode, though.

I'd love to see some fireworks but I haven't looked into it at all (the whole Halloween/All Hallows day/Gunpowder Plot thing has rather passed me by this year)... I suppose you could go up ot Parliament Hill and watch the lot though.

According to this, there's a display at the Globe Theatre down on the Thames at 7:30pm, with street theatre from 7:00pm, which sounds like it could be fun. Otherwise, Blackheath is free, and I seem to recall their displays being quite decent, not to mention that it's nearish enough to Greenwich Park which has a great view over the Thames and a large chunk of London (not sure if the park closes at dusk, though)

Parliament Hill or Primrose Hill are both local for me, though.

Me and my sidekick have decided to go anywhere Barbelithers go...

What's central for people?

Um. I suspect our dog will need looking after at home, as she's not keen on loud bangs. So probably not, at least not both Lilly Nowhere and myself, sadly.

Well, I've already made my suggestions, so someone else will have to speak up. Most of the people in this thread can make arrangements offline, so I suspect that's what will probably happen. Do you have a cellphone, Benway? I'm not going to be online tomorrow, but maybe you could PM the number to Stoatie so he can fill you in on plans and schemes?

Yeah, PM me your number and we can figure out some firework-watching fun. I'm always online, pathetic fool that I am...

Speaking for myself, I'd love to do something fire-worky. Someone fill me in on details when there are some please. T-M owes me a night of child/dog sitting for sure!

I think the Globe sounds quite fun... it's also fairly central.

Globe sounds great and we could even relocate to parliament hill or something later...

Ok, for the fireworks, try and send them EXTRA-high so that maybe I can see them over here in Can-eh-dia.

That was cool. Fireworks are cool.

And hey- when someone sets them off, it's DAMN FUCKING HARD NOT to shout "What's that? Arclight! What's that? B52 strike- every time I hear it something bad happens!" I tried my best.

"Incoming!" likewise.

And so I still do; but watching the public display in Roundwood Park from a nearby back garden was good enough.
