If I remember correctly (I don't have the book at hand), when Shadow watches Wednesday go with his mom, didn't it refer to his mom as Native American? Which is why Shadow interacts so deeply with Buffalo and the thunderbirds (Which sounds like a great band, by the way), I would think.
