subbacultcha's in town till sunday.. Shall the local lithers do the hospitable and meet and greet at the regular spot? Say, Saturday at Hurley's?
This is assuming that Sub is also wishing to do the meet&greet?

Sounds so good to me.

Probably.

I might have to be other places, but I might not ...

What time is the meet on Saturday? I suggest that we stay indoors this time. The forecast states that it's going to be pissing rain all week-end.

I was thinking of tomorrow, Saturday, at Hurley's. I am not certain what time would be best. I think early evening, say around six-ish would be do-able. I have to confirm with my sitter.

Anyway...informal, last minute, and tentative

Ok, heading out soon, should be there anywhere between 5:30 and friday.

Hurley's, on Crecent, below St-Catherine.

I may be late. Or I may not show up at all. Sorry, but I'm tired and not really in the mood to drag my lazy ass all the way from the "south snore"* as Keg likes to call it, to downtown. The rain isn't helping my mood either. I just got back from Van - to more rain in Montreal!

*south snore = south shore aka suburb hell

I am going to be there tonight, sans enfant, about six. R&R, are you still coming tonight? AND Your Pookiness, I implore you to attend our little soiree, you will be missed if you cannot.

I think you'll know who we are Subba. To help I will draw a "b" and tape it on the wall behind us.

B is for Barbelith, that's good enough for me...

I have just learned that our guest of honour, Subbacultcha, WILL be in attendance.

Cheers!

I had a wonderful time. It was great to meet you Subbacultcha. Lovely to see most of the Montrealithers attend, also.

Come back again sometime, hubba-hubba Subba!

Do you guys have any concept of how great a time I had with all of you? It was great meeting you. Thanks for showing me around, Strix. [wink]

It was a great night to end the trip on. In contrast to the other nights, I actually felt like there was a good chance of seeing the people I'd met again after saying goodbye. The other nights in Montreal I made connections with people I never got the chance to say goodbye to, and would never be able to look up again. I met some locals, too, and every time, we would end without breaking the invisible you-don't-live-here-so-i-guess-we-
-don't-swap-numbers-and-for-some-reason-a-one-night-stand-wouldn't-work-either barrier.

But you guys were different - it was kinda planned, and it was a warm welcome. I didn't wanna leave! I wanna go back!

I seriously contemplated the idea of becoming an illegal immigrant bum, Morgan, but chickened out and got on the plane. And now here I am back in the North London flat ugh-ing over the thought of returning to the office tomorrow.

I've met a few UK lithers before but have never been to an actual barbemeet. That was my first one. Strange how I have to go across the Atlantic to take part in the barbeloving and here I've been in London all this time. I should go represent ore locally eventually, shouldn't I?

Rage! Oi! Where were ya!? You missed out.

Cheers, gorgeous Montreal people. You rock. I wanna be your groupie. Shall I come live with you, then?

That was grand! Don't feel bad about not ditching the visa and going rogue this time around - there's always next time!

I was contemplating handing your picture to airport security and mentioning something about bombthreats. That way we'd be sure you'd stay in Canada for at least a few weeks more.

Subbacultcha,

Just a belated note to say that it was nice meeting you. Too bad you're not here in Montreal now. It finally stopped raining. It's suppose to be sunny this week-end too. If you were still here, I'd suggest a gathering on Mont Royal. The mountain is really gorgeous this time of year - the fall foliage is spectacular.

For your next visit, come down in late spring/early summer. That's a great time to visit, the weather is just right - it's warm, hot even, but not too hot, and the humidity won't have kicked in yet. Montreal in the autumn is lovely. Montreal in the summer is wicked! In a good kind of wicked way, of course.

I wish I was still there too. Here I am back home in the rain.

I'm seriously thinking about going back in the summer - but it's a toss up between that and going to New York (there's someone there who I should see)

I'm thinking it's 70:30 in your favour guys. Even the cab driver on the way to the airport was trying to convince me to return in the summer. I was gob-smacked up on Mont Royale in the steaming rain so gods know how cool it would be on a clear day.

Feel like I'm still on holiday!

Come for Summer and then zip down to NYC - it's close enough to do both.

I go back and forth to New York *all the time* - my fiance is there. Trust me, you *can* do both! You *must* do both!

And Pooky, you should always feel free to call a meet - I would have been up for it!
