I think magical references (feelings about the energy of the rune etc) are the same as divinitory ones, so that is appropriate. Specific magical applications are probably best kept to another thread though, save where used for illustration.
As for Gebo, gift. But also, investment. When one gives to another, a return is expected in some form. If not material, then in energy, friendship, good will, or even debt. The Norse were really big on this, that gifts created a "karmic" balance that was maintained by the web of Wyrd, and would punish those who went against it. So, this rune represents the concept of Karma, in the sense that it is commonly understood in the west as a balance of energy. Thus, a gift to someone or even a kindness such as hospitality can be an investment in their good will in the future. Very practical of them.
Applied to spirituality, it can symbolize the exchange of energy between the gods and man. Man's existance is a gift from the gods, thus we are indebted towards them. This works both ways, naturally, as one can do the will of the gods and expect them to reward appropriately through the balance of Gebo. In this light, its magickal applications are easy to see.
