Okay you people. Come to Brighton. I was offline for a week and managed to miss at least one meet and maybe two (feck!) so I consider it my duty to arrange one (especially after reading the 'other people' thread in Temple).

I'm suggesting a picnic on Hove lawns Saturday afternoon 20th of August. It's cheap/free, easy to find (near the meeting place cafe), we can practice circus skills at the same time (on fire when it gets dark!) and near my house for the after-party.
There will be booze. There will be snacks. Music. There will be juggling, staff and poi. There will be intelligent and attractive Barbeloids to converse with (plus other Barbeloids like me) and probably frisbee to play.

What do you want, a pound of flesh? Who wants to come?

Gasp, I think I may be free, and as it's eleven days before my birthday I could even claim I'm doing it to celebrate that.

This is sounding like a worryingly good idea...

Do you know how one would go about getting to Brighton from Oxford?

Boboss

I might well be there, but that's not saying much really.

Bard - through London, I think. Either Oxford Tube to Victoria (ten pounds or so) and direct train (12 pounds?) or train to Paddington and thence to Kings Cross (Thameslink, dodgy), Victoria or London Bridge. there may be coaches, which will be cheaper but take longer.

Hmm. Thanks, Haus. Lemme look into things. I will endeavor to come if I can. Should have the cash to do so, I think.

...may need to bunk with someone for the night if possible, though. Depending on just how long transit is, as the british rail system is a touch dodgy. Or if there are cheap motels in Brighton. Dunno.

I can't make this meet (working) but Cass and I may well be coming down for both/either the 15th and 16th.

w00t! I'll be pestering local types into coming along, watch this space and tell your friends, remind people to check the gathering.

And there'll be Capoeira and Guitar playing! And throwing-stones-at-the-sea!

THOR!

That's alright, we'll take your evil twin. Unless he's also busy with the same... which I think he said he was, arse.
We'll take Goodness Gracious Meme instead, she's got better laddoos.

Yep, afraid so Quantum - Pap, Fraely, MacGyver, Gumbitch and I will all be off stagging it right up.

How will you cope?

We will struggle through our pain with the aid of capoeira.

Bastards, the lot of you.

*sobs*

See, meeting 'lithers is one thing. But capoeira? Man, that would have sold me if I lived somewhere in the orbit of Jupiter.

Goodness Gracious Meme

Don't worry, Bard.

Actually, we will struggle through our pain with beer, sandwiches and Stiff Upper Lips.

Boboss

I'll send along a photo (unless you've already got one, Meme). That should help.

It is alright to come if you've got absolutly no dexterity, right? Capoeira, staff and frisbee are on my list of 'Things that are almost impossible to do well', right alongside 'Maintain a healthy relationship'.

I will pencil this in as I'm a Brighton based Temple user.
Be interesting to do some technique swap, I'll bring my Ninjutsu, you show me the cartwheel weirdness.

How to spot the Capoeira playing lithers amidst the swarms of seafront drumming hippies may be a bit more problematic.

Will
Love

We need a shouted callsign-password-thingy. Honestly.

Goodness Gracious Meme
14:18 / 12.08.05
heh, your point is well-made, PeterGrey.

Well, I'm likely to be there, and I'm British Asian, have crew-cut purple hair and black-framed glasses. So you could look out for me, as I haven't seen anyone else with that combination. (This week, at least)

Quants, remind me to bring my solar/wind up radio for the sustainable tunes...

I'll bring my Ninjutsu, Peter Grey

That's a pretty cool throwaway line Mr Grey.

I will have;

Blond hair (Skywalker stylee)
Glasses
A picnic basket
A firestaff with purple flags on the ends (day) or on fire (night)
A white T-Shirt with 'Subverted by Music' on it (prob'ly)
A tendency to approach strangers and say 'Are you a Barbelith person?'
A g/f with some poi

The callsign should be 'I'm a PoMo BoHo Homo!' at max volume.

Rollo Kim, on location
00:28 / 13.08.05
Checking in for the first time in ages and look - a meeting, in my neighbourhoody! I'd love to come out to play! Well, when I say 'play', I mean sprawl lifelessly in a tight T-shirt with a bottle of Italian Antifreeze... obviously...

I'll be the bloke in the denim skirt, unless I get down there early enough to do some shopping...

It's also my g/f's birthday a couple of days later so there may be some non-barbers at the picnic, promise to be friendly my lovelies. And bring her presents if you know her, weep for your loss if you don't, your life is impoverished and you don't even know.

Bard: One-Man Humaton Hoedown
03:34 / 14.08.05
I'm pondering of the callsign shouldn't simply be the classic question from one of the first meets:

"Invisible?"

Though Anna tells me that screaming "BARBELITH!" normally elicits a response.

I'll wear my "CAiNE 2005" t-shirt. Its hard to miss. Black with white lettering, wherein the bottom of the N and the A are dripping read (Ok, it was a Camarilla convention...so sue me).

Anybody actually wear the badge?

Bard: One-Man Humaton Hoedown
19:31 / 14.08.05
I think it was Illmatic who was telling me that there's a place in London that sells blank badges, along with badges of various other colors.

Its the kind of product that SHOULD be ridiculously easy to find, but its not.

I may well turn up to this if rehearsals finish early.
I am easily recognisable on account of my massive sideburns, sartorial elegance and musky odour.

Oh, and don't expect me to get involved in any kind of physical activity. I'll just sit with Rollo Kim and talk about Krautrock if that's alright with everyone.

Wasn't me.

It was actually psi_lock, who recommended Paperchase.

I won't be coming to this, though I would love to, but I'll be on a pub crawl treasure hunt somewhere in London with some people I don't really know, instead...

You don't love us...

To sway any doubters, not only will the weather be LOVELY according to the BBC (no wind, sunny- slip slop slap that sunscreen everyone) but I will be providing near-perfect bloody marys to those who attend.

That's right, *FREE BOOZE* people! I make great BMs (vege/vegan and teetotal options available) and want to meet everyone, come and see me for a free drink while stocks last! I'll be the one with gallons of tomato juice over me, swearing, trying to juice lemons.

If that doesn't sway the fence-sitters I don't know what will!
