Anyone needing revivification head towards Shuttlebank, then PM me. I'm in a nearby suburb and we can arrange a safe meeting point. Haven't picked up any syringes yet and I had to move from the Necrotech building I was in. Too many zombies moving in on it. Maybe they were after reviving, but I wasn't taking the chance. I'll hunt up another facility.

Incidentally, has anyone looked at the damage flare guns do? 15HP! Seems to be a better use than letting every rotter in the district know your location.

In zombie news, some bastich turncoat human-loving sonofabitch took a chunk out of me whilst I slept! Oh the irony that the first of my characters to get nipped was the undead one.

Axolotl

I just killed my first zombie! My chances of my shots hitting are still piss so all my other zombie hunts have been cut short by the need to get more ammo and/or go and hide before my APs run out. If only I could get a lot more shotgun ammo I reckon I'd be in with a better chance.

Still not killed a zombie yet, but my ability to actually hit things with a baseball bat has improved slightly from laughably bad to annoyingly bad...

The next question is how many health points do zombies usually have?

I've got three characters roaming around at the moment:

Steve Rogers, super-soldier (well, private), currently out of bullets but reading An Improving Book;

Sax, a zombie. Shambling around biting people.

Kerouac, a zombie. Ditto.

So, can I get my zombies turned back into humans, then?

Reiland-Yutani

Thats a good point, if you started as a zombie can you be revived? Or will it always just fail...

Haven't been on in two days, giev that mass of AP!

Evil Scientist
15:12 / 11.08.05
Yes, you can be revived if you start out as a zombie. You have to buy the Brain Fever skill which will prevent it, and also make DNA extraction of you more difficult.

I'm currently resting up in a building whose sole other occupant is someone called Spawn Retard. Call me paranoid, but I may be moving on as soon as APs allow. I'd rather risk the teeming zombies hordes outside than leave my helpless comatose Necrotech in the clutches of a man called Spawn Retard.

Cheers Evil. I'm near Shuttlebank now. Will make my way up and PM you in a few days for a revival!

Its actually quite funny the difference in play.
My Live one has 2xp and spends most the time trying to find ammo, medi kits etc and finding somewhere safe to get AP.
While my Zombie has 40xp and just runs around trying to kill people...

Evil Scientist
15:58 / 11.08.05
No worries Supaglue. Once I find a new Necrotech facility I'll repeatedly search it until I find a syringe. I have a hunch they're the ones on the citymap that are written in red.

Of course those could be some kind of constant update on zombie hotspots but I'll find that out when I arrive...low on APs...already wounded from some dastardly, and no doubt intimate, assault from Spawn Retard.

He's trying to hypnotise me, I know it. As soon as I close my eyes he'll be trying to buy his freedom with my liver.

I'd recommend an axe from the fire station. zOmBiEs start with 50 hp unless they got bodybuilding while they were alive then it would be 60 hp.

My scout has amassed 225 xp almost entirely through healing, I'm yet to knock down one of the infected but I've hurt a few.

My zombie Rob Whyte, who is just shy of 400 xp, found lots of meat in the mall.

Not made it to the mall yet, which is quite poor considering I'm supposed to be a consumer...

Currently holed up with a buch of other survivors in a hospital... good guys - were sharing info - one of them healed me. apparently a flare went up about 10x9 block away... sorry guys - i don't have the APs for that kind of yomp...

My second character is more military-orientated, but is still getting to grips with how to shoot people with her gun.

oooooop the hospital my second character was in has been overrun by a gang of 3 zombies... I ran past fort creedy which was crawling with the fuckers - particularly in the armory... am now in a heavily baracaded Autorepair facility...

God, Consumers are a worthless lot. I found a mall and scoured for all I was worth... and got three mobile phones that don't work.

Yay.

My Necrotech character finally extracted enough DNA to level up and has barricaded himself in for the night. Necrotech is definitely the way to go. Steady employment with benefits. The hour suck though.

Wow, I'm obsessed. I've started checking in every hour after finding myself being nibbled to death during work hours. I've had my first Urban Dead-themed dream.

Sorry, I lied - Alcoholic beverages restore 1 Health Point when drunk, not one action point. Apparently my memory of reading messages from three weeks ago is not as good as I thought it was.

Wow, Fort Creedy has been barricaded to such a degree I can't get in, and I'm alive.

Nuke Kids on the Bloc

Yeah, the game does warn you about that. If you can't get in it also means everyone inside can't get out. I imagine the whole front is a Berlin Wall of chintz, potted plants and filing cabinets right now.

Nuke Kids on the Bloc

lekvar, for the love of chuff keep a hold of one of those mobiles for later. In the dev notes it says mobile phones will be useable later "when the power is restored to the cellular towers".

Ms. Triplets, I'll be zombie cutlets by the time that happens.

Oh, and I think that beer and wine have different effects. Not sure. I'll have to drink more.

Nuke Kids on the Bloc

I'll be your hero, lekvar.

I'd love it if drinking booze reduced exp by an equal amount: "hey Marge, remember when I took that wine-making class and I forgot how to drive?"

This server, sorry, storm, is really starting to get to me. I've just gone through over 30 clicks in a row, trying to just move one block, and gotten the Server Overloaded message every time.

Am I the only one experiencing such an insanely unstable connection?

It was better this morning than it was last night...

Not sure what the point of barracading yourself into a place so heavily that you can't get out again is...

Evil Scientist
10:11 / 12.08.05
Don't worry Tez, I think we're all getting it. I generally manage to get ten minutes of uninterrupted play in the morning around 0800. Then it's dodgy for the rest of the day.

Regarding barricades that seal you in too. Does anyone know if the Free Running skill gets round this? It might be a case of locking somewhere up nice and tight then hopping to a neighbouring building to leave.

Supa, I've got a revivification syringe now. Make your way to East Boundwood (up and to the right of Shuttlebank). Then PM me. I'll sort out somewhere to meet you once my APs are back up to 50.

Probably the "storms" are making people nervous about being out in the open.
Does anyone know the best palce to pick up shotgun shells? I'm all levelled up and ready to blast some zombies, but a lack of ammo is holding me back.

Evil Scientist
13:27 / 12.08.05
Police stations are good for ammo. I tend to pick up a ratio of two pistol clips per single shotgun shell I find so I opted for improving my Mad Pistol Skillz when my Private spent his first exp.

The armouries and forts will most likely have a lot too. But they're normally under siege by seas of corpses, so I advise searching the police stations first.

The Fort Perryn armory is empty - the barracades have been swept away from ravening zombie hoards...

What do wire cutters do, then? Haven't seen much wire around the place, s'all.

That Diagnosis skill looks handy, all you medics...you get to see how much HP any given character has left (though I think this only extends to live ones). This is good because it means you can plan your movements to get the most from oyur AP, when you're out healing for XP.

Evil Scientist
15:08 / 12.08.05
The wirecutters get you into junkyards. On some of the descriptions you'll see that junkyards have had a neat square cut out of their fence. Beware though, zombies can get in too.

Nah, the server's been unreachable periodically before during this crisis. News this morning was that the author has almost finished a new, heavily optimized version of the code that should be implemented this weekend and is expected to fix the current problems.

A zombie just took a bite out of me. I hadn't been on for a while and had 50 AP. And a fire axe. Cut the fucker to chunks in, well, 45 swings. But still, bits.

Over the last couple of days I'd been bouncing between Fort Creedy and St. Benedicts hospital, healing survivors, it worked great until I spent my last AP entering an overun hospital. It was a scary hour and an half before I got back to the fort, only gnawed once.
