Copy Protection Question

I've recently moved, and I can't find the box or case to my copy of Starcraft. You have to put in the serial number to play the bastard, and it was on one of those two things, which are probably at the dump right now. Am I totally fucked? My copy is unregistered and I'm too cheap to throw down $15 on something I already own and should be able to play whether I kept the fucking case or not.

I am angry at Blizzard and their draconian copy-protection policies. Any advice?

There'll probably be a keygen (a small program that'll automatically generate a new, random serial number) floating around the Internet for it. Try a Google search, but be careful of what you download and where you download it from - you'll probably end up having to nab it from a warez site and they're not the most security-friendly places around.

GameBurnWorld, and GameCopyWorld are your friends.

You don't mention which version of Starcraft you have, but a link for NoCD appears to exist here.

If you need the original, try GameCopyWorld as opposed to GameBurnWorld. If neither work, let me know and I'll just get you a new serial number.

Thank you very much, Tezcatlipoca. I would really appreciate a new serial number, as I'm using my SO's laptop and am wary of downloading questionable materials from the net. Also, I'm a bit technologically inept. Typing in a string of numbers is more my speed.

Try one of these:

2150-84228-3512

2055-18599-0184

0155-18599-0184

3223-53022-1965

Thanks, Tezcatlipoca. That worked like a charm.

am wary of downloading questionable materials from the net.

For future reference, the two websites I've given can both be trusted. They contain no spyware/adware, or other sneaky downloads, and since they're not paid for by porn advertising, there are no dialers imbedded in the downloads.

Between them, they're pretty much the place to acquire NoCD cracks and/or trainers for PC games.

Megagames is another goodie for fixes and whatnot too...

Thanks for the advice, all. I should figure that kind of stuff out. I haven't done any shady downloading since I was in college six or so years ago.
